Domaine Coche-Dury needs no introduction. Founded by Jean-François Coche, the domaine has garnered an almost mythical reputation. Now under the stewardship of Raphaël Coche, the legacy continues with wines that embody precision, complexity, and unparalleled elegance.
Today, we are pleased to offer a full vertical from 2017 all the way to 2021. William Kelley and Allen Meadows adore these and say “a brilliant young wine…most impressive for its level…pitch-perfect balance…terrific rendition of this benchmark cuvée…a superb Meursault villages.” Further to this, Burgundy expert Allen Meadows 2018 & 2021 branded ‘Outstanding.’

“The 2017 Meursault Village is a brilliant young wine, unwinding in the glass with notes of crisp Anjou pear, green apple, dried white flowers, toasted sesame and hazelnuts. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and elegantly satiny, with racy acids, discrete structuring dry extract, and a long, elegantly chalky finish. Raphaël Coche thinks this will prove reminiscent of the domaine’s 2001—in so far as the 2001 drank well in its youth, but despite its youthful precocity, it proved surprisingly long lived. Here, the expressiveness of the vintage meets the tensile, age-worthy Coche style to great effect.”

“Aromas of crisp Anjou pear, lime zest, orange oil, fresh hazelnuts and white flowers introduce the 2019 Meursault Village, a medium to full-bodied, layered and incisive wine that’s chalky and concentrated, with racy acids and an abundance of structuring dry extract. When I was served this wine blind a month after tasting it at the domaine, I mistook it for its 2017 counterpart, which should give some indication of the pitch-perfect balance Raphaël Coche succeeded in attaining in the more extreme 2019 vintage.”

“The 2020 Meursault Village has turned out beautifully in bottle, unwinding in the glass with scents of crisp Anjou pear, lemon zest, freshly baked bread, blanched almonds, pastry cream and apple blossom. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, its textural attack segues into a fleshy, precise mid-palate that’s animated by racy acids, concluding with a long, mouthwatering finish. It’s another terrific rendition of this benchmark cuvée.”

“Restrained and distinctly cool aromas include a plethora of floral nuances that add elegance to the white orchard fruit, citrus and soft hazelnut wisps. The incredibly low yields are in evidence as the mouthfeel of the medium-bodied flavors is almost thick yet the bright citrus-tinged acid spine keeps everything in focus on the strikingly long, bone-dry and markedly austere finale. This is a superb Meursault villages and very much built-to-age, indeed it’s absolutely going to need it.”
