This has a lovely, floral bouquet with ripe blackcurrants, cassis and violets, very expressive and well defined. I like the purity here. The palate is medium-bodied with a grainy entry, still a lot of oak to be subsumed, a little rugged and dry on the finish but fine length. Quite a masculine wine…I would lend this another 2-3 years in bottle. Drink 2012-2018. Tasted March 2011.

Lightly toasty nose. Even some green notes. Just not quite enough flesh to satisfy most modern drinkers. Drying end.

Vinous 87-89
Bright ruby-red. Subtle, pure aromas of blackberry, boysenberry, violet and minerals; high-pitched and attractive. Then juicy and quite firm in the mouth, with primary flavors of dark berries and minerals. A fairly big, rich wine but not overly sweet. Finishes with broad, building tannins. A bit youthfully musclebound (from energetic extraction?) but this possesses very good stuffing for 2006.
