Neal Martin 92

The 2015 Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatieres 1er Cru is showing a lot of reduction on the nose, making it difficult to read the terroir, though I suspect that will dissipate with aeration/bottle age. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry and just a little honeyed in texture, with impressive depth and a feisty, ginger- and aniseed-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. Very fine. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting. [Neal Martin, 13/11/2018]

Anticipated maturity: 2020-2038

Herbal and stony on the nose. Impressive intensity of fruit without being especially fruity – more depth and concentration than bright citrus flavours. Long. (JH) [11/01/2017]

Anticipated maturity: 2018-2025

Vinous 92

Pale, bright yellow. Delicate aromas of white peach, lemon drop, mandarin orange, menthol and flowers stand out as quite different in the context of this set of 2015s. Suave, fine-grained and airy, in a distinctly silky, elegant style. Lemon and floral flavors are energized by underlying minerality. Not a powerful style but this rather deep wine, from shallow soil in the upper part of the cru below La Truffiere, finishes with subtle lingering length. It should offer early pleasure owing to its balance and restrained sweetness but evolve gracefully. [Stephen Tanzer, 09/01/2017]

Anticipated maturity: 2018-2025

Wine Advocate 93

The 2015 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru les Folatieres has a strict, backward, introspective bouquet that perhaps does not convey its terror with the gusto of the Les Referts at this point. That may change of course. The palate is very well balanced with good salinity on the entry, understated at first but building and fanning out towards the spicy, lively finish. Superb salinity here, yet this Les Folatieres will needs 2-3 years in bottle. Those who have a penchant for this wine should stock up on the 2015, since after the 2016 vintage, half the vineyard was pulled up. [Neal Martin, 31/10/2016]

Anticipated maturity: 2018-2030
