The 2018 Bourgogne Blanc has also turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of citrus oil, crisp Anjou pear, white flowers, hazelnuts and blanched almonds. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and precise, it’s elegant and charming, with a delicate, fine-boned profile and a precise, mouthwatering finish. Like its Aligote sibling, this is approachable today, though I suspect it has more to give with some bottle age.

Meursault (Les Magny). No oak, ever, on this wine. I treat it like the whites and rack before harvest , explains Ente. Tank sample. Essence of sweet pure cherry fruit, tangy rather than overly sweet. There s spice too and a hint of orange. More savoury on the palate, sweet and creamy tannin texture complementing the freshness. Vivacious and deep. Savoury spice on the finish. (JH)
