Dom Perignon Champagne: The Epitome of Luxury

The most famous of Champagnes and one of the most recognisable brands on the planet, Dom Perignon is emblematic of exclusivity, luxury and all things ‘fine’. This reputation is richly deserved.

The History of Dom Perignon

Dom Perignon is named after a Benedictine monk who was a 17th-century monk and winemaking pioneer. Owners Moet & Chandon released their first vintage in the 1930s, and it has since gone on to achieve global fame. It is a must for collectors and connoisseurs and a fixture on the wine lists of top restaurants, clubs and nightclubs.

The Style and Substance

Dom Perignon is a classic blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, always from a single vintage. Access to a peerless array of crus and the finest grapes produced within those vintages means that consistent quality is always guaranteed. Winemaking is no expense spared and second to none. It is always released with significant bottle age, which allows the wine time to mature and gain complexity and depth.

The house style is one of intensity, structure and power while always remaining elegant, refined and balanced. While every vintage is different, the theme that runs throughout the years is poise, sophistication and class.

The Dom Perignon P2 & P3

Dom Perignon is revered for its magnificent ageing potential. Experienced tasters have, however, noted that it tends to go through periods where it is open and expressive before closing for a few years only to open again. Dom Perignon calls these periods ‘Plenitudes’ of maturity. It is a time when the champagne has a perfect sense of completeness and harmony. For this reason it keeps small amounts back and releases them from its cellars under the rare P2 and even rarer P3 labels, only when the expert Cellar Masters have decided that they are showing particularly well. Thanks to their rarity, maturity and provenance, these are instant collectors items.

Tasting Notes

Antonio Galloni 98

The 2018 Dom Perignon is explosive, bright and so vibrant in the glass. Medium in body, with layers of understated depth, the 2018 dazzles from start to finish. Lemon peel, chalk, mint and white pepper all open with a bit of coaxing. Readers will find a Dom Perignon of unreal precision and class. [Antonio Galloni, 31/05/2026]

Anticipated maturity: 2028-2058
