The History of Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

Domaine Rossignol-Trapet combines the heritage and expertise of two historical winegrowing families in Burgundy. The estate was created by the marriage of Jacques Rossignol, a descendant of a Volnay winemaking family, and Mado Trapet, a daughter of a Gevrey-Chambertin winegrowing family. Their sons Nicolas and David Rossignol took over the estate in 1990 and have continued the family tradition of producing fine wines from the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The estate owns 14 hectares of vineyards, mostly Premier Cru and Grand Cru classified, spread over the villages of Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune, and Gevrey-Chambertin.

The Philosophy of Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

Domaine Rossignol-Trapet follows a natural and biodynamic approach to viticulture and winemaking, respecting the environment and the terroir. The estate converted to biodynamic farming in 2004 and obtained the organic certification in 2007. The vineyards are ploughed with horses and treated with organic and herbal preparations. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted, and fermented with indigenous yeasts, using whole clusters and varying degrees of new oak.
