Tasting Notes

vinum 91

Very pretty red fruit led style. Has a lovely seam of acid and brightness. Light and shade. Crunchy tannins. [Matthew Hemming, 01/01/2024]

Antonio Galloni 93

The 2020 Lascombes is a deep, sensual wine. Blackberry fruit, lavender, espresso and chocolate are all amplified in this exotic Margaux. Plush and racy, with soft tannins, Lascombes shows off the more opulent side of the appellation. The 2020 is not super-complex, but it is easy to appreciate and drink. [Antonio Galloni, 23/02/2023]

Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040

Neal Martin 91

The 2020 Lascombes undergoes malo in barrel (using the Oxoline rack system whereby the barrels can be rotated on wheels) and matured in 60% new oak. The bouquet has opened up nicely since I tasted it in barrel with pressed violet scents infusing the blackberry and raspberry fruit, touches of incense coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, much more flesh than the Deuxieme Vin, fine backbone with ample weight on the graphite-tinged finish. There’s a little more classicism compared to older vintages, a bit more terroir expression. Give this 4-5 years in bottle. [Neal Martin, 08/02/2023]

Anticipated maturity: 2025-2040

JancisRobinson.com 15.5

Full bottle 1,353 g. Cask sample taken 6 April. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Very dark core with deep crimson rim. Initial impression is a little bit toasty from the oak but rich dark fruit lies below, both blackcurrant and something a bit more lively like mulberry. Smooth but slightly thick tannins, a bit flat and a little too dry on the finish. Rather severe. (JH) [13/04/2021]

Anticipated maturity: 2027-2035
