From a limestone terroir and 40+ year old vines. The profile is dark-toned and punchy with muscular tannins that are firmly clamped down at this point. The fruit is there behind but this style is a bit more forbidding and in need of age. Succulent dark cherry fruit. Almost creamy on the mid-palate but entirely from the quality of fruit, not from any winemaking makeup. Notes of earth, tobacco and dried herbs kick in with air. This is complex, savoury and structured.

The 2021 Barbaresco is exquisite. Bright and delineated, with tons of energy, the 2021 bristles with saline-infused energy. Red berry fruit, blood orange, chalk, mint and white pepper lend tons of energy to this deceptively mid-weight, nervy young Barbaresco. Vineyard sites are Ovello, Cole and Loreto.
