80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Franc, from a roughly 20-ha vineyard at 350-400 m facing south-west, on calcareous rocky soils located on the Tenuta Tignanello estate. Harvested 1-13 October. Made since 1978, though none produced in 1980, 1981, 1983, 1984 and 1992. Released 3 September 2026.Served from an ice bucket! Very deep crimson. Smooth as a baby s bottom and very Cabernet. Almost sour on the end but clearly very glamorous and well sculpted. But still very youthful.

The 2023 Solaia has gained a measure of weight since I first tasted it a few months ago. Inky dark fruit, creme de cassis, blackberry, graphite and dried herbs soar from the glass. Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with notable eloquence and character. There’s gorgeous purity and restraint here.
