Arnaud Mortet, the highly regarded vigneron directing his family’s iconic estate, Domaine Denis Mortet, launched this namesake project alongside his sister, Clémence. The opportunity arose when a retiring local grower passed the farming management of a prime four-hectare estate over to them. While technically classified as a négociant operation due to the leasing structure, the property functions entirely as an estate domain in practice. Arnaud and his dedicated vineyard team retain absolute, year-round control over the agricultural choices and vinification, applying the same exacting standards to these plots as they do to their historic family land.

An Evolved Style of Purity and Chiselled Structure

The winemaking style of Domaine Arnaud Mortet reflects a thoughtful evolution away from the dense extraction and heavy oak parameters popular in the late 20th century, favouring a model of elegance, energy, and chiselled precision. Sourced largely from old-vine plots averaging over 50 years of age, the fruit naturally possesses excellent concentration. In the cellar, Arnaud employs a highly disciplined, low-intervention approach that includes a strict triple sorting table and a significantly reduced percentage of new French oak. Whole-cluster inclusion is utilised selectively based on vintage conditions, sometimes involving the labour-intensive practice of clipping out the main structural stem by hand. The resulting Pinot Noirs balance a supple, sensual mid-palate texture with high-toned floral aromatics and a driving, mineral-rich core.
