Blended with 50% whole bunch with the pedicel left intact, the 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux Saint-Jacques 1er Cru is raised in around 25% new oak. This has a bewitching nose: very pure with brambly red fruit, blueberry, violet and light loamy scents that are well defined, the oak neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins and quite pronounced acidity that keeps this Gevrey on its toes, the oak just rounding out the finish, simpatico with the fruit. Very promising.
