Ramonet Bienvenues Batard Montrachet
We are delighted to offer a selection of bottles and magnums of Ramonet’s Bienvenues Batard Montrachet. As one of the standout wines in the enviable portfolio of this benchmark producer, Ramonet’s Bienvenues Batard is a true collector’s item, particularly with some much-needed bottle age.
Picking out some highlights. The 2014 is a real gem. From a touchstone vintage for white Burgundy and now complete with over a decade of bottle age, this will be sensational for those able to find it. Sadly, we have only one bottle to offer. From 2016, we have a magnum of a BBM described by the Wine Spectator as “Balanced and persistent, ending with terrific cut and length”.
From another great vintage, 2017, we have a bottle and a magnum available. 2018 is represented by four bottles of a “super-sleek, intense and nicely detailed”(Meadows) BBM.

This is powerful and steeped with lemon cake, pear, stone and saline flavors. The racy structure sets the pace, and this builds in intensity to a long, stony, spicy aftertaste. On the austere side, yet with the oiliness and concentration that will allow this to age. Best from 2021 through 2033. 10 cases imported.

This is saturated with peach, lemon pie, citronella, butterscotch and baking spice flavors, all wrapped in a creamy texture. Balanced and persistent, ending with terrific cut and length. Peach, spice and butterscotch accents linger. Best from 2021 through 2033. 12 cases imported.
2017 Ramonet, Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

Intense peach, apple, citrus, hazelnut and pastry aromas and flavors are the hallmarks of this sophisticated white. Lush and smooth, with lively acidity and fine harmony. The aftertaste lingers effortlessly, showing elements of fruit and spice, as well as a touch of woody tannins. Best from 2022 through 2030. 20 cases imported.
2018 Ramonet, Bienvenues Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru

Hints of mineral reduction and matchstick character suffuse the elegant aromas of honeysuckle, acacia blossom and spiced pear that are trimmed in wisps of wood and lemon rind. The super-sleek, intense and nicely detailed flavors possess good richness on the citrusy and beautifully long finale where moderate warmth slowly emerges. This elegant effort is perhaps a bit bolder and powerful than is usually the case and a BBM that should age gracefully over the next decade. Drink 2028+

A touch of matchstick character is present on the cool if ripe aromas of honeysuckle, carnation, lemon-lime and crushed fennel. The supple and caressing medium weight flavors are rich to the point of opulence with excellent density and punch that carries over to the impressively long and sappy finale where the only reproach is again a touch of warmth. I would not describe the ’19 BBM as a classic example from Ramonet but it’s extremely good nonetheless. Drink 2029+
