September Release Preview 2026: Opus One, Masseto, Solaia & More

The wine world wakes up from its traditional summer slumber in September with a flurry of big-name new releases.   

All coming through the Bordeaux Place, the releases come thick and fast in what has become something of a ‘mini en primeur’ campaign. 

This year looks particularly exciting as the quality of some of the vintages on show is excellent.  

Napa is always well represented in this campaign, and we have some real gems on the horizon in 2026. From a fabulous vintage for the region, the 2023 Opus One is a classic in the making. The UK team were able to taste it last month, and it was showing extremely well with masses of the trademark poise and sophistication for which Opus is famed.  

This is complemented by the 2023 Beaulieu Georges de Latour Private Reserve. This is always one of Napa’s best value fine wines and, being from the 2023 vintage, it is set to be a stunning wine.  

From Italy we have some great Tuscans in the frame. Masseto 2023 and Solaia 2023 are both due for release and always see strong demand.

Chateau Palmer of Margaux always releases a ten-year-old vintage in September, and this year it’s particularly exciting as it’s the turn of the fabulous 2016. This was a remarkable year for Bordeaux and Palmer made an equally remarkable wine which should now be really starting to unfurl.
