I have just raised purchase orders to two of our favourite producers of artisanal Grower Champagne. Originating from different parts of the region and showcasing contrasting styles, I’m delighted to offer special pre-arrival prices on these terroir-drive, great valuewines.
Champagne Pertois-Moriset is based in Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger in the heart of the Côte de Blancs, classic Chardonnay country. When I first tasted Vincent Bauchet’s wines, Les Quatre Terroirs was my favourite of their non vintage cuvees, yet this is the first time we have been able to offer the wine in Singapore. A Blanc de Blanc – 100% Chardonnay – made with low dosage and no malolactic fermentation, this is a razor sharp and mineral Champagne. 30% of the blend is taken from a perpetual reserve of older vintages, partly aged in large oak casks, and this fills out the mid-palate and prevents any austerity.
From Vinum’s very first shipment, our most popular wine from Moussé Fils has been the late disgorged cuvee. Marking their 100th year as Champagne producers, Cedric Moussé revamped his entire range in 2023. Eugène Longue Garde is the new incarnation of the late disgorged wine, previously called L’Extra Or.
True to the Moussé DNA, Longue Garde is a Blanc de Noirs (80% Pinot Meunier, 20% Pinot Noir) with the heart of the blend drawn from the vineyards of Cuisles – the family’s home village. Based on a perpetual reserve spanning vintages 2003-2019, the complexity of this already sophisticated Champagne is magnified by a full 60 months of lees ageing.
Two strikingly different expressions, both from the cutting edge of the Grower Champagne movement, and both at prices that belie their very significant quality! Our stock will be arriving in Singapore in Q3 and I’m delighted to be offering special pre-arrival pricing on these fabulous Grower Champagnes.
Cheers,
Matthew Hemming MW
The Offer:
Offered subject to remaining unsold. Available from our Singapore cellars in late Q3 2024.
Champagne Pertois-Moriset, Les Quatre Terroirs Grand Cru NV
SGD $360 (inc GST $392.40) per case (6*75cl OC)
Blanc de Bland from 100% Grand Cru vineyards. 70% current vintage and 30% perpetual reserve. Blend of Le Mesnil-su-Oger, Oger, Cramant and Chouilly with 3g/l dosage. Very pure Chardonnay expression on the nose with citrus butter and orchard fruit. Has a touch of nuts and brulee – Maillard reaction (creme brulee) characters – on the attack. Buttered toast nods to classic autolysis notes. Broadens to quite a rich mid-palate and the low dosage is almost entirely obscured by this volume and fruit. There’s a tension and focus right through the core, with a sort of oyster shell minerality and a whisp of seabreeze. Delivers beautifully for its level and price. The aromas continue to develop in the glass and it builds to a very clean and lingering finish.

Champagne Moussé Fils, Eugène Longue Garde (DG 2024)
SGD $450 (inc GST $490.50) per case (6*75cl OC)
80% Pinot Meunier; 20% Pinot Noir. Zero dosage. Perpetual reserve 2003-2019, disgorged Januqry 2024. Lovely, dusky, dark-toned fruit on the nose. Biscuity and rich, to off-set the zero dosage. Lively palate, that’s savoury and vinous. Broadens on the mid-palate, filling out and delivering plenty of power. Long and dry with red berry fruit. Has clearly gained several dimensions from the extended lees ageing. Evolves more spice and baking aromas with air. Rich, satisfying texture with plenty of life and zip.
