'Outstanding Pomerol' at a Super Price: 95+/100: 2019 Clos du Clocher

We’re excited to present the 2019 Clos du Clocher, Pomerol, direct from Bordeaux. We have 25 cases on offer today.

The Clos du Clocher estate has a rich history, acquired by Jean-Baptiste Audy in 1931 and subsequently managed by his lineage, with his grandson Pierre Bourotte taking the helm in 1997. Pierre and his son, also named Jean-Baptiste, also own notable vineyards such as Châteaux Bonalgue, Monregard la Croix, Les Hauts Conseillants, and Courlat.

This Pomerol estate boasts three exceptional parcels, cradled in the heart of Pomerol’s plateau, where the clay-gravel soil and the iron-rich subsoil confer an exceptional terroir, shared by legendary neighbors such as Petrus and Le Pin. The vineyard is predominantly planted with 70% Merlot, complemented by 30% venerable Cabernet Franc, yielding approximately 20,000 bottles.
Fabulous scores and notes from Lisa Perrotti-Brown and Neal Martin who say:
seamless freshness, finishing with great length and depth.” & “This is an outstanding Pomerol.”

These are in beautiful original wooden cases of 6. Please let us know if you would like to add a couple of cases to your collection

“Made from 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Clos du Clocher is deep garnet-purple colored. It is a little closed and broody to start, featuring charcoal, smoked meats, and tilled soil hints over a plum preserves and blackberry pie core with wafts of fragrant earth and tree bark. Full-bodied, rich, and densely packed with black fruit and mineral layers, it has firm, ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with great length and depth.”
95+ Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

“The 2019 Clos du Clocher presents a nose of beautifully defined black cherry and boysenberry fruit, truffle and hints of cedar, all very focused and full of vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Some oak has yet to be subsumed on the entry, but there is great structure here, leading to a complex, tensile finish. This is an outstanding Pomerol.”
94+ Points Neal Martin
