These are the words of the most powerful woman in wine, owner of Domaine Leroy: Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy. She emphasizes the importance of loving and caring for the vines, and her belief in biodynamic, low yield, whole cluster, minimal intervention winemaking results in wines of extraordinary quality. It's no wonder that Leroy wines have achieved a cult following in the wine world.

Domaine d’Auvenay

Madame Lalou Bize-Leroy, owner of the renowned Domaine Leroy, purchased a small farm in Saint-Romain in the late 1980s and established Domaine d'Auvenay. This 3.87-hectare estate includes Grands Crus vineyards in the Côte de Nuits and plots in the unique terroirs of the Côte de Beaune. Like its cousin Domaine Leroy, the wines of Domaine d'Auvenay are produced using biodynamic methods and have gained a reputation as some of the most sought-after wines in the world.

Domaine Dujac

Jacques Seysses founded Domaine Dujac in 1968 after learning winemaking with Gérard Potel at the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or in Volnay. Seysses, who had previously worked in the family biscuit manufacturing business, purchased the Domaine Graillet in Morey-Saint-Denis and renamed it Domaine Dujac. In the following years, Seysses and his wife Rosalind expanded the estate, eventually reaching 15.5 hectares in 2005. In 2014, the estate expanded its operations to the Côte de Beaune with the acquisition of leased vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet.

The next generation of the Seysses family, including Jeremy, Alec, and Diana, joined the estate in the late 1990s and early 2000s and have continued the commitment to quality and sustainable vineyard techniques, earning organic certification in 2011. Together, they oversee the operations of the Domaine and continue to produce exceptional wines from the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune.

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair

Vinum is extremely fortunate to be the exclusive distributor of Thibault Liger-Belair wines in Singapore!

Based in Nuit-Saint-Georges, Thibault Liger-Belair is one of the most respected winemakers in the Côte de Nuits who took over the family domaine in 2002. In addition to his vineyards in Nuit-Saint-Georges, Richebourg, Vosne-Romanée, Clos-de-Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges & Gevrey-Chambertin, Thibault has also acquired parcels in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation in Beaujolais, where he applies his knowledge and understanding of Burgundian terroir to the production of Gamay wines.

At the domaine, the philosophy is to craft wines with minimal intervention and gentle extraction, focusing on purity and subtlety over power. The vineyards have been 100% biodynamically farmed since 2005 and practices such as ploughing with horses and using no more than 50% new oak to preserve the natural character of the wines.

Domaine Rossignol-Trapet

The marriage between Jacques Rossignol and Mado Trapet crystallised the union between two historical winegrowers. Since 1990, Nicolas and David, the two sons, have been running the domaine: 14 hectares spread over the villages of Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Gevrey-Chambertin.

The management of the vineyard as well as the vinification are meticulously done, working with biodynamic principles and minimum intervention. Rossignol-Trapet goes beyond ticking the boxes of being an iconic Burgundy Domaine. Indeed, the two brothers produce remarkable and pure wines that are accessible young and also promise future rewards to those who cellar them!

Domaine Follin-Arbelet

Franck Follin-Arbelet has deep winemaking roots in the region - his family were growers, his father-in-law regisseur at the Hospices de Beaune and his brother runs Le Chateau de Meursault - yet his own professional history was as a geologist!

The domaine produces wines from an array of 9 appellations (one white and eight red). Franck is an absolute purist when it comes to viticulture aspects. He works the vineyards 100% manually and organically, without any use of herbicides or pesticides and embraces the notion of terroir and respects nature to best express itself for every harvest.

Since 2017, Simon, his son, joined the domaine. The father and son team continue to craft delicate wines, gently extracted, made with a minimum of new oak and expressive of their vineyard origins. With Simon taking an ever more central role, the future seems bright for Follin-Arbelet.

Domaine Jean Chartron

Located in the heart of Puligny - on a road called La Grande Rue, no less - this is an important and significant domaine. It was one of Jean-Michel's forebears, the local mayor, who had the name of Puligny's most famous vineyard appended to the village name; hence Puligny Montrachet was born!

More recently, when forced to sell some choice vineyards to pay death duties, Jean-Michel sold some vines in Chevalier Montrachet to a certain Lalou Bize-Leroy for her Domaine d'Auvenay - although he kept the hallowed Clos des Chevaliers as a monopole for the family.

Jean-Michel and his sister Anne-Laure craft wines of purity, clean lines and finesse. In the last ten years, we've seen the reputation of Domaine Jean Chartron grow and blossom amongst critics and collectors alike.

Domaine Jean Chartron wines may not be priced alongside the premier league of Puligny but they now play at that level in terms of quality - Vinum are extremely fortunate to be his exclusive distributor in Singapore.

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini wines are a true expression of their vineyards and we are proud to serve them at the finest of meals. Owners Florence Heresztyn and Simon Mazzini prioritize their vines and customer relationships above scores or prestige, and are equally happy to share their Grand Crus or enjoy a meal at a hawker stand.

Originally established as Domaine Heresztyn in 2012, the double-barrelled name reflects the collaboration between Florence and Simon. The couple, who are both forward-thinking and technically skilled, farm just 5.5 hectares of vineyards in the Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, and Chambolle-Musigny regions. Almost all of the domaine's vines are now managed using biodynamic principles, with just a couple of vineyards in the process of conversion.

At Vinum, we are thrilled to work with Florence and Simon and be the exclusive distributors of Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini wines in Singapore.

Domaine Drouhin-Laroze

For more than a decade, we've been regular visitors to Domaine Drouhin-Laroze and have watched as Caroline and Nicolas have gradually assumed control of the family estate. It is fashionable to talk about the young generation leading revolutionary change but that has not been the case here. Taking their father's work as a foundation, and paying close attention to his ongoing advice, Caroline and Nicolas have overseen an evolution of style, winemaking and the quality they achieve.

Oak and extraction have been dialled down. Focus has been sharpened and there's a vastly increased sense of purity and precision. There's a considered use of whole bunch fermentation, tweaked up or down based on vintage and vineyard.

Few domaines have richer vineyard holdings than Drouhin-Laroze - they own the third largest slice of Clos de Beze and are number two in Bonnes Mares - and the wines are now delivering quality worthy of these celebrated crus. But - ssssshhhhhhh! - let's not spread the word too far as, for now, the wines are both relatively affordable and not too hard to find.

Domaine Chavy-Chouet

Based in Meursault, the 13 hectares vineyard of domaine Chavy-Chouet is spread across the most iconic villages in the Côte de Beaune such as Puligny-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Volnay and Pommard.

Romaric Chavy's wines continue to win both friends and admirers - amongst critics who lavish praise on his range of precise and finely-judged wines, and wine buyers who have come to rely on him for bottles whose quality far out-strips their price tags.

Blossom-scented, racy, and humming with energy, Chavy-Chouet is an address for thrilling white Burgundy from the top to the bottom of the range. Balance and equilibrium are rarely shouty or ostentatious and so it is with the wines of Chavy-Chouet. There is a sense of effortless harmony and elegance that promotes one of the ultimate qualities in fine wine: sheer drinkability and pleasure.

Domaine de la Vougeraie

Domaine de la Vougeraie is a staple of the Vinum list and an estate for whom we have been thrilled to be the exclusive Singapore distributor for some years.

Established in 1999, La Vougeraie was created from the union of the Jean Claude Boisset family's vineyards and comprises 44 hectares across 35 appellations in the Côte d'Or, with a focus on organic farming.

The domaine boasts a rich heritage, with vineyards in some of the most sought-after regions of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, including Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyères, Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, Corton-Charlemagne, and Les Damodes Bâtard-Montrachet. La Vougeraie produces a wide range of wines, including three monopoles, nine Grands Crus, eight Premiers Crus, twelve Villages, and two Bourgognes.

Domaine Jean-Michel Gaunoux

Jean-Michel Gaunoux, hailing from a family with deep roots in the Côte d'Or, embarked on his winemaking journey by working alongside his father at Domaine Francois Gaunoux in Meursault. In 1990, he established his own domaine, acquiring vineyard parcels from his mother's family. Currently, he oversees six hectares of vineyards spanning Meursault, Volnay, Puligny, and Pommard, with a particular focus on Meursault's renowned Premier Cru sites.

Committed to sustainable practices, Jean-Michel Gaunoux treads the path of organic viticulture, refraining from pesticide use and implementing green harvesting techniques to ensure low yields. Embracing traditional vinification methods, his wines undergo maturation in oak barrels, typically with 15-30% new oak, and are bottled after 15-16 months. Unfiltered and unfined, the wines retain their natural integrity and exhibit extraordinary aging capabilities.

Bursting with vibrant citrus flavors and exotic spices, Jean-Michel Gaunoux’s wines are an embodiment of power and complexity.

Comte Georges de Vogüé

If Burgundy had a Grande Marque, Comte de Vogüé would be it. Though not necessarily grand in size, there are few that can go toe-to-toe with its history - dating back more than 500 years to the 1400s.

Currently under ownership of the 20th generation (!!), Claire de Causans and Marie de Ladoucette (granddaughters of Comte Georges de Vogüé); this is one of the most storied addresses in the Côte d'Or. Besides owning 70% of the Musigny region, Comte Georges de Vogüe is the only domaine to produce white as the appellation allows it.

The two cousins leave the technical details to maestros Francois Millet (cellar) and Eric Bourgogne (vineyard), both who know best how to express the best of Chambolle-Musigny - its tell-tale perfume, silky-elegant tannins, and the signature 'peacock tail' finish of their Musigny.

Guinaudeau Family Wines

Château Lafleur, Les Pensées, Les Champs Libres, Les Perrières, Château Grand Village.

Jacques and Sylvie Guinaudeau currently head a family firm that has been associated with the finest right bank wines since 1872, when Henri Grelaud purchased the Pomerol vineyard that today forms the jewel in the Guinaudeau crown: Chateau Lafleur. This exceptional vineyard has passed through successive generations of the same family and the fame of its wines has spread beyond a tight-knit group of Pomerol enthusiasts in Belgium and England to wine lovers around the globe.

Furthermore, Jacques and Sylvie’s stewardship of the estate has seen the birth of Les Pensees de Lafleur - from a distinct part of the Pomerol vineyard.
Chateau Grand Village, in both red and white, is produced from vineyards on the family’s home farm.
Finally Les Perrieres de Lafleur (red) and Les Champs Libres, an exceptional expression of Sauvignon Blanc grown in Bordeaux, are more recent additions to the Guinaudeau family range.

Château de Millery

"The secret wine of Figeac"

Chateau de Millery is closely tied to the prestigious Premier Grand Cru Classé B Chateau Figeac, both being owned by the Manoncourt Family. In 1942, during World War II, Thierry Manoncourt's mother purchased this small Saint-Emilion vineyard (less than 1 hectare), hoping her son would return from the war. For over 80 years, Chateau de Millery has been a hidden gem, known only to a select group of wine enthusiasts.

Located in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, a subregion of St Emilion, the vineyard's Merlot (90%) and Cabernet franc (10%) grapes are planted in clay-limestone soil, different from the gravel terroir of Figeac. In recent years, thanks to the management team at Figeac, the quality of Chateau de Millery has improved significantly, reaching a new level of excellence.

As the exclusive distributor of these extraordinary Saint-Emilion wines in Singapore, we are proud to offer them to wine lovers. With only 400 cases produced each year, don't miss your chance to taste these rare and delicious wines.

Château Séraphine

In just a few short vintages - the maiden release was 2017 - Chateau Seraphine has made a significant splash in Pomerol. Critics and writers such as Neal Martin, William Kelley, Jane Anson and Steven Spurrier have taken note and praised early vintages. In 2020, after just three releases, The Wine Advocate singled out the property as one of its Bordeaux discoveries of the year.

From a production of fewer than 1,000 bottles in 2017 Seraphine has grown to around 3,000 bottles a year, yet remains extremely small even by Pomerol standards. This is precisely the style of quality-driven boutique estate Vinum is excited to partner with, so we were thrilled to be invited to distribute Chateau Seraphine in Singapore.

Champagne

Champagne Pertois-Moriset

Cecile and Vincent Bauchet run this domaine, which is based in the famous village of Mesnil-sur-Oger - the heart of Chardonnay country. We were tipped off to Pertois-Moriset by a friend and, by coincidence, Vincent is close friends with Cedric Mousse!

Champagne Marie Demets

Champagne Marie Demets is a 3rd generation family estate located in the Cote des Bar. At the helm are Pierre and Mathilde, who meticulously tend to their 10-hectare vineyard, crafting wines that embody the unique character of their land.

A Legacy Rooted in the Terroir
Nestled in a landscape reminiscent of Burgundy, the domaine's vineyards flourish on limestone and clay soils, enriched with the same Kimmeridgian marl found in the celebrated Chablis region. This geological kinship imparts a distinct minerality and complexity to their champagnes, setting them apart as a true expression of place.

Artisanal Craftsmanship
With a commitment to quality over quantity, Champagne Marie Demets is a testament to artisanal winemaking. Each bottle is a tribute to the family's dedication, encapsulating the essence of the Cote de Bars in every sip. The estate's proximity to Beaune, rather than Reims, underscores its unique position within the Champagne appellation, offering a refreshing perspective on the world-renowned sparkling wine.

Champagne Moussé Fils

Prior to a trip to Champagne, we reached out to a winemaker friend in the region asking about under-the-radar growers he thought we ought to visit. This is how we came to find ourselves, after hours one evening, in the Tresors de Champagne boutique with Cedric and Julie from Moussé Fils at a table groaning under the weight of bottles.

The Moussé family has a long history of growing vines in the Marne region, dating back to 1629. Since the 1920s, they have been producing Meunier-based Champagne, which is their area of expertise. Since Cedric joined the team in 2013, the quality of their Champagne has significantly improved.

The Moussé family's focus is on the Pinot Meunier variety, vinified to showcase the unique terroirs of the village of Cuisles in the Marne Valley. They are committed to sustainability and the environment, creating Champagnes with a strong sense of individuality and style.

Rhone Valley

Jean-Luc Jamet

Since 2015 we have followed Jean-Luc Jamet with huge enthusiasm and watched their star soar.

For those unfamiliar with the backstory, the brothers behind the iconic Domaine Jamet went their separate ways in 2013. Jean-Luc had been responsible for the vineyard work and much of the winemaking, whilst his brother took care of sales and marketing. Taking his share of the vineyards responsible for so many legendary Cote Rotie wines, Jean-Luc established his eponymous domaine and today works alongside his son Benoit.

The winemaking style is pure and driven by finesse. The very earliest vintages - prior to 2015 - were marked by some obvious oak but only because, starting from scratch, Jean-Luc was obliged to buy new barrels rather than relying on someone else's cast offs. As time has passed, and the casks have seen a few more vintages, the wines have only gained in precision and elegance.

With his history in the region, Jean-Luc Jamet occupies a strange hinterland between young gun producer and established star. Tasting the wines, however, shows that questions of status are irrelevant - this is simply outstanding Cote Rotie deserving of a place in any serious cellar.

Famille Isabel Ferrando (ex Domaine Saint Prefert)

Famille Isabel Ferrando is a winery located in the iconic village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the Rhône Valley. The winery was founded in 2003 by Isabel Ferrando, who left her career in banking to pursue her dream of becoming a winemaker. Isabel is dedicated to producing high-quality wines using only organic and biodynamic methods. Her wines are known for their solar, fleshy, and subtle flavors.

From 2020 Isabel has been joined in the business by her daughter, following training at the winemaking school in Beaune. To mark this new chapter, Isabel has re-christened her wines and now labels them under the name Famille Isabel Ferrando.

Italy

Luciano Sandrone (Barolo)

Sandrone is truly a family estate, painstakingly built from the ground up by the eponymous Luciano Sandrone himself. A modest man, yet a giant amongst the iconic Barolista of the 20th century, Luciano began with a small plot of vines in the prestigious cru of Cannubi that yielded 1,500 bottles in his maiden vintage of 1978. From such humble beginnings Luciano, and his wife Marriucia, nurtured an estate that grew to take its place as one of the benchmark producers of great Nebbiolo wines.

Meticulous in the vineyard, open-minded and considered in the winery, few plotted such a careful and balanced course between traditional and modernist influences in Barolo as Luciano Sandrone. As a result, the wines won universal admiration and respect. The vintages produced along the way included wines of legendary reputation and enduring appeal.

Just as Sandrone bridged Barolo’s philosophical divide in the late 1980s and 1990s, the estate bridges two banks of the Tanaro river and unites the territories of Langhe and Roero. Luciano’s original Barolo vineyards were joined by vines in the Roero cru of Valmaggiore in the 1990s, producing an elegant and age-worthy expression of Nebbiolo.

Always a family winery, Luciano’s younger brother Luca and daughter Barbara joined him in the 1990s. Today the 3rd generation of the family, Luciano’s grandchildren, are assuming their own roles in the family business.

Luciano Sandrone sadly passed away in early 2023. He leaves behind a legacy of beautiful, soulful wines and a multi-generational business in whose hands the 27-hectare estate is sure to continue to thrive.

Elio Grasso (Barolo)

If Roberto Conterno is the “DRC” of Barolo, we are quite sure Gianluca of Elio Grasso is the equivalent Rousseau or Leroy! Indeed, this is an estate whose quality has soared in the last 20 years and whose wines have not gone unnoticed.

The Grasso family have played a big part in establishing Monforte d’Alba as one of the premium and most regarded subregions in Barolo.The small family-run estate has holdings in two of Barolo’s most prominent Crus - Gavarini and Ginestra.

Renato Corino (Barolo)

Within a short couple of years, Renato Corino and his family have become close friends of Vinum. They were amongst the first producers in Barolo to have the confidence to appoint us their exclusive distributors in Singapore and we continue to be delighted by these wines of character, purity and distinction.

Renato's son, Stefano, is slowly taking over from his father but Renato's guiding hand is still very present in the shaping of these wines. So much of what attracts us to Barolo is encapsulated in the Corino wines - they are authentic, expressive and reflect both their vineyard origins and the people who made them; they are also exceptional value (for now!). Discovering wines like these makes us feel like the importers who first pioneered domaine-bottled Burgundy must have felt when they first tasted at now legendary estates whose wines were both available and affordable.

Poderi Luigi Einaudi (Barolo)

Poderi Luigi Einaudi is a historic estate that has undergone a renaissance under 4th generation winemaker Matteo Sardegna. Matteo's philosophy is to employ a traditional approach informed by the most up-to-date advances in viticulture and winemaking - borrowing from the modern to pursue a traditional ideal. The results are ethereal Nebbiolos of purity, finesse and silk.

In the winery, visitors more familiar with Bordeaux will feel strangely at home…the conical concrete tanks, looking strangely like Riedel’s Vinum Chianti glasses, are the same as those found at Cheval Blanc and purchased from the same manufacturer. State-of-the-art appearances aside, Einaudi’s focus is on crafting decidedly classical renditions of Barolo. Since taking over, Matteo Sardegna’s policy has been to extend maceration times and move to 100% cask maturation, abandoning French oak barriques. The emphasis on purity, silky tannins, site expression and the pursuit of ‘ethereal’ Nebbiolo results in Barolo with an almost Burgundian accent - extremely seductive and fine-boned.

USA

TOR Wines (NEW)

Our introduction to TOR wines occurred at a Napa Cabernet symposium in New York City earlier this year. Today, we're thrilled to present them as an exclusive Vinum agency in Singapore and launch the highly-rated 2019 vintage.

You might wonder, "How have we just discovered a winery with such prestige and a 20-year history?" The answer is simple: TOR is a genuinely small-scale operation, with a significant portion of each release reserved for devoted US mailing list customers.

TOR wines reflect the bountiful generosity of Napa with a delicate touch that highlights the vineyard's essence. Made with minimal intervention, wild yeast fermentation, no artificial concentration or acidification, and bottled unfined and unfiltered, TOR embodies the heart of artisanal Napa winemaking.

We are excited to debut our first allocation of TOR in Singapore, inviting you to experience the excellence of the 2019 vintage—a remarkable year in Napa.

Kenzo Estate

After years of research for the best terroir, Kenzo Tsujimoto, CEO of the Japanese video game publisher Capcom, decided to lay down one's root in Napa's smallest appellation: Wild Horse Valley.

Working with renowned winemaker Hedi Barrett (Screaming Eagle, Dalle Valle) and viticulturist David Abreu (Colgin, Harlan), Tsujimoto has crafted wines of fantastic intensity and balance from the volcanic soils of these south Napa hillside vineyards.

Dominus (Jean Pierre Moueix)

Dominus Estate is a well-established Grand Cru of Napa Valley, consistently producing high-quality wines alongside the elite of Napa.

Founded in 1983 by Christian Moueix, a French student who fell in love with the potential of Napa Valley, especially the Yountville region, Dominus Estate is committed to producing Bordeaux-style wines using the exceptional Napa Valley terroir. The 50 hectares of vineyards are carefully managed using organic farming techniques, and in the cellar, minimal intervention is the philosophy to allow for the pure expression of the single terroir. With a strong potential for aging, the resulting wines from Dominus Estate are consistently superb.

Ulysses (Jean Pierre Moueix)

Christian Moueix founded Ulysses in 2008, but it wasn't until the first release in 2012 that the small Oakville-based winery truly took off. Located in the prime Napa terroir of Oakville, the Ulysses vineyard is surrounded by some of the region's most renowned estates, including Martha's Vineyard and To Kalon. The latter, a 19th century vineyard known for producing some of the greatest wines by Robert Mondavi and Opus One, adds to the prestige of Ulysses.

South Africa

Oldenburg Vineyards (NEW)

Oldenburg Vineyards encapsulate much of the excitement and thrill of today's South African wine scene!

Oldenburg Vineyards is located in Stellenbosch, not far from Cape Town. Owners Adrian and Vanessa Vanderspuy proudly produce terroir wines in the truest sense - expressions of a totally unique place.

Oldenburg sits in an amphitheatre of surrounding mountains. In the middle of the amphitheatre is the Rondekop, a round-topped hill swathed in vines. This landscape provides myriad soil types, exposures and microclimates. Currents of air flow down the surrounding mountains and are funnelled around the central Rondekop. The mountainous valley sides warm in the sun and then radiate heat, further influencing the ebb and flow of air currents.

This web of soil types and climatic influences means the valley can accommodate diverse grape varieties in microclimates to suit them. To further understand the complexities of the terroir, the team have undertaken a painstaking process of soil mapping and analysis - very similar to that which I have seen at the grandest of Bordeaux classed growths. Matched to this dedication to terroir, winemaker Nic van Aarde pursues a hands-off and minimal intervention approach to showcase the purity of fruit and prioritise vineyard expression.

Tesseron Cognac

The Tesseron family - who also own Chateau Pontet Canet - have been producing remarkable Cognac in Grande Champagne since the 19th century.

The family is unique for being a house with time on their side. True to their tagline "XO & beyond", the youngest Cognac they have is 10 to 15 years old with some of their eaux-de-vie going back over a century! Whilst time can tame a powerful spirit, it takes the experience and foresight of generations to fully comprehend the art of blending such intense and powerful raw material, achieving a delicate balance in these exceptional, muscular but poised spirits.
