Beautiful parcel of St Aubin 1er Cru from PYCM
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is one of the hottest names in white Burgundy today. He is one of the producers responsible for Saint Aubin’s huge surge in popularity and his wines – from Bourgogne to Grand Cru – frequently sell out on allocation en primeur.
We are delighted to have secured a parcel of one of PYCM’s reference point Saint Aubin 1er Crus from the superb 2020 vintage.
Hommage a Marguerite, which means daisy, first made its debut in the 2016 vintage when frost devastated much of the Cote de Beaune and growers were compelled to produce blended cuvees as the yields from individual vineyards were too small to be viable. In 2020, Hommage a Marguerite is a blend of 1er Cru Les Perrieres, Les Combes and En Creot.

Saint Aubin 1er Cru Hommage a Marguerite 2020

The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Hommage à Marguerite opens in the glass with notes of pear, struck match, freshly baked bread, citrus zest and wheat toast. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and chiseled, it’s taut and concentrated, concluding with a long, saline finish.

A blend from three vineyards, Perrières, Combes, Créot. Mid lemon not clear, more fruit weight on the nose, into ripe apples here, less citrus, a little tension, matching the opulence of the fruit. Good length again.

Full lemon and light lime. Not so much nose but a classic pure St-Aubin white fruit in the mouth, a light grapefruit touch at the finish, fresh, with energy and persistence. Actually, very long indeed for this level.

Chassagne Montrachet 1er Abbaye de Morgeot 2020

The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot unfurls in the glass with notes of pear, honeycomb, white flowers, freshly baked bread, ripe cantaloupe melon and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and layered, it’s elegantly muscular, with a deep core of fruit, racy acids and a long, chalky finish.
