Great 2012 Bordeaux Selection in Stock

We’re thrilled to offer a selection of 2012 Bordeaux that you simply can’t overlook!

“2012 is a more heterogeneous vintage than 2011 that produced elegant and intense wines.” – Steven Spurrier

The 2012 vintage stands as a unique testament to resilience and quality. Following a mild winter that sparked early Merlot bud break, a challenging spring with persistent rains, especially in April, posed hurdles like mildew and oidium outbreaks. Yet, a ray of hope arrived in August with stable weather, rescuing the vintage and allowing our grapes to reach their full potential. By September, the outlook had brightened considerably, confirming the promise of a remarkable vintage despite the earlier trials!

The selection today features a range of expressive and authentic wines that any connoisseur would cherish in their cellar. Here are some highlights:

  • Chateau Belair Monange 2012: “Consider yourself fortunate if you have these bottles in your collection.” – Jeb Dunnuck, 97 Points
  • Chateau Cheval Blanc 2012: “This is a magnificent display and one of the standout highlights of the year.” – Antonio Galloni, 97 Points
  • Petrus 2012: “An astounding achievement for this vintage.” – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 98 Points
  • Chateau La Mission Haut Brion 2012: “This is a quintessential, exceptional La Mission.” – Lisa Perrotti-Brown, 98 Points
  • Chateau Trotanoy 2012 : “No less than a splendid Trotanoy.” – Neal Martin, 96 Points

2012 Chateau Belair Monange
2 cases (x6) @ SGD $870 per case (inc GST $939.60)

“A brilliant showing, the 2012 Château Belair-Monange comes from a great terroir that is being resurrected by the Moueix team, located on a south-facing hillside just outside of Saint-Emilion. Sporting a deep ruby hue, it offers a beautiful bouquet of red and black fruits, truffly earth, graphite, and subtle smoke. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it’s shed most of its baby fat and is just a classy, elegant, yet concentrated Saint-Emilion that does everything right. It’s now in its prime drinking window, but I’d wager it has another two decades – or more – of overall longevity. Count yourself lucky if you have these in the cellar.”

2012 Chateau Cheval Blanc
2 cases (x6) @ SGD $3,900 per case (inc GST $4,212)
“The 2012 Cheval Blanc boasts stunning power and a vertical, imposing sense of structure that is quite rare in this vintage. Dark and almost brooding in style, the Cheval is a rare 2012 that absolutely demands cellaring. Smoke, tobacco, incense and dark spices open up with time, but the 2012 is a reticent, tannic wine that is only showing the barest hints of its ultimate potential. This is a magnificent showing and one of the clear highlights of the year. (Drink between 2020-2042)”
97 Points Antonio Galloni

2012 Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou
1 case (x12) @ SGD $2,880 per case (inc GST $3,110.40)

“A big wine for the year, the 2012 Ducru-Beaucaillou possesses striking depth and intensity from start to finish. Sweet tobacco, cedar, smoke and savory herb overtones add intrigue to this deep, fleshy Saint-Julien. I imagine the 2012 will age for several decades based on its fruit density. Whether the tannins ever become noble is another question. Still, it is impossible not to admire the wine’s pure depth. (Drink between 2020-2037)”

2012 Chateau La Conseillante
2 cases (x12) OWC @ SGD $2,550 per case (inc GST $2,754)

Another classic wine from this fabulous estate is the 2012 La Conseillante, which I believe was the first wine made in their newly constructed winery. A blend of roughly 89% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc brought up in 70% new barrels, it offers an awesome bouquet of blueberry and smoky black cherry fruit intermixed with loads of Asian spices, melted asphalt, truffle, and licorice. This full-bodied, opulent, incredibly sexy Pomerol stays light and elegant, with silky tannin and sensational purity of fruit. Anyone who owns bottles should count themselves lucky, and those who don’t should buy some as soon as possible. It can be drunk today or cellared for two decades.
96 Points Jeb Dunnuck

2012 Chateau Margaux
2 cases (x6) @ SGD $3,750 per case (inc GST $4,050)

“The 2012 Château Margaux is a wine that, based on this showing, is a little closed at the moment and needs the most coaxing from the glass. Plenty of black fruit in situ, although it does not really blossom. It is very well-balanced, quite deep and powerful, but it needs time to develop refinement on the finish. Cellar for another few years. Tasted blind in Bordeaux.”
94+ Points Neal Martin

2012 Petrus
2 cases (x6) @ SGD $27,900 per case (inc GST $30,132)
“Medium to deep garnet-purple coloured, the 2012 Petrus needs vigorous swirling to uncover notes of plum preserves, kirsch, and blueberry compote with hints of crushed rocks, truffles, licorice, and dried roses. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is laden with spicy black fruit layers and superbly ripe, rounded tannins, giving just enough freshness to lift the long earthy finish. A stunning achievement for this vintage, give it another 5-7 years in the cellar and drink it over the next 25 years+.”
98 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2012 Chapelle d’Ausone
9 cases (x6) OWC @ SGD $1,140 per case (inc GST $1,231.20)

“The 2012 Chapelle d’Ausone is boisterous, open and deeply expressive, all of which provide tons of insight into what makes this Saint-Emilion property so special. Rose petal, mint and savory herbs lead to a core of dark red/purplish fruit. In this vintage, the Chapelle is unusually dominated by Cabernet Franc, which gives the wine much of its aromatic signature, poise and brilliant energy. This is a fabulous second wine from Ausone. The blend is 60% Cabernet Franc, 25% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. (Drink between 2016-2032)”
92 Points Antonio Galloni

2012 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion
9 cases (x12) OWC @ SGD $3,800 per case (inc GST $4,104)
2012 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion
4 cases (x6) OWC @ SGD $1,900 per case (inc GST $2,052)

“The 2012 La Mission Haut-Brion is medium to deep garnet colored. It sashays out with showy scents of Morello cherries, blackcurrant pastilles, and black cherry preserves, plus hints of cinnamon toast, clove oil, candied violets, and licorice. The full-bodied palate is rich and seductive, with plush, velvety tannins and loads of spice and mineral nuances on the long, long finish. This is a classic, stunning La Mission. The blend is 62% Merlot and 38% Cabernet Franc.
98 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2012 Chateau Trotanoy
2 cases (x6) OWC @ SGD $1,860 per case (inc GST $2,008.80)

“Tasted blind at the Southwold Bordeaux tasting. The 2012 Trotanoy is clearly blossoming in bottle. Over almost 20 years of tasting out of barrel, I cannot recall a Trotanoy that has so surpassed its showing at en primeur. It has a well-defined bouquet that initially seems straightforward. Don’t be fooled…it opens in the glass and reveals subtle red berry fruit, truffle and ferrous aromas. There is stunning definition and poise here. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannin. There is a core of wonderful Cabernet Franc here, the acidity extremely well judged with a precise, sustained finish. This is a sophisticated Pomerol with élan and no more, no less than a fabulous Trotanoy. Tasted January 2016.”
96 Points Neal Martin

2012 Chateau Pavie Macquin
1 case (x12) OWC @ SGD $1,440 per case (inc GST $1,555.20)

“The 2012 Pavie-Macquin shows how appealing the best wines from this vintage are. Bright, floral and racy, the 2012 is drinking beautifully today. Readers who prefer more aromatic complexity might prefer to cellar the 2012 for another few years, but there is something about the wine’s raciness and immediacy that makes it a pure pleasure to taste today. (Drink between 2022-2032)”
