L'Aventure Winery: Amazing Wines and Scores: "Trust me, it’s a brilliant wine..." JD

Last year, we had the privilege of being introduced to the exceptional wines of L’Aventure in Singapore by Swann Dufeu, the Brand Ambassador. Impressed by the outstanding quality produced by this Estate, our team wasted no time in securing a selection of their wines, which are now being directly distributed from Bordeaux.

Paso Robles is a region that deserves your attention. According to Jeb Dunnuck, Paso Robles stands at the forefront of quality winemaking.

“The wines are darker, structured, and lively, with beautiful purity of fruit, yet still have ample concentration and classic Paso Robles opulence”.

Their wines are characterized by their rich, structured, and lively nature, boasting a delightful purity of fruit, alongside the unmistakable opulence that defines Paso Robles.

Crafted by Stephane Asseo, a skilled winemaker hailing from St Emilion, L’Aventure wines prioritize a harmonious balance of texture and power. It’s a rare gem that appeals to enthusiasts of both Old and New World wines, effortlessly combining the finest qualities of both traditions.

Renowned wine critic Jeb Dunnuck has awarded these wines with fantastic scores and says: “Trust me, it’s a brilliant wine…a magical wine…another incredible wine…a gorgeous finish…another seamless, incredibly pure, focused expression of this variety that will stand up to any Cabernet out there.”

L’Aventure wines offer a unique blend of strength and liveliness, boasting extraordinary aromatics and impeccable purity and precision. The best part is that despite their remarkable beauty, these wines provide exceptional value!

2013 L’Aventure, Cote a Cote
12 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 115/ bottle (inc GST $124.20)
“A blend of 40% Mourvedre, 30% Grenache and 30% Syrah, the 2013 Cote a Cote is a classic Rhone blend from Paso that has lots of blackberry, cassis, ground pepper and damp earth aromatics, full-bodied richness and both good acidity and tannic grip. Showing more complex floral characteristics and chalky minerality with time in the glass, it can be enjoyed now or cellared for a decade.”

2016 L’Aventure, Chloe
12 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 155/ bottle (inc GST $167.40)
“The 2016 Chloe (69% Syrah and 31% Grenache) is one of the closer, tighter, and more backward wines in the lineup. Sporting a deep purple color, it offers terrific notes of blackcurrants, spiced meats, and ample minerality and crushed rock characteristics. Structured, full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, and pure, it’s loaded with potential yet needs 2-3 years of bottle age. Trust me, it’s a brilliant wine.”

2017 L’Aventure, Cote a Cote
30 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 115/ bottle (inc GST $124.20)
“The only Grenache-dominated release is the 2017 Côte A Côte, a blend of 48% Grenache, 32% Mourvèdre, and the rest Syrah that spent 14 months in 30% new French oak. It’s one sexy red that offers full-bodied richness and depth as well as brilliant notes of blackberries, black raspberries, ground pepper, potpourri, and flowery incense aromas and flavors. This smoking Grenache is elegant, with no hard edges, beautiful purity, and a great finish. It shows how successful Grenache was in 2017 and is a magical wine.”

2018 L’Aventure, Estate Cuvee
60 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 125/ bottle (inc GST $135)
“The 2018 Estate Cuvee checks 45% Syrah, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Petit Verdot brought up in 90% new French oak. Tasting like the straight Cab, yet with more sex appeal, it offers a huge nose of crème de cassis, white flowers, crushed stone, graphite, and crushed flowers. This carries to a full-bodied, gorgeously textured red with incredible balance, no hard edges, a thrilling mid-palate, and a great, great finish. It’s going to benefit from 5-6 years of bottle age and keep for upwards of two decades or more. Hats off to winemaker Stephan Asseo on another incredible wine, as well as, I suspect the wine of the vintage.”

2019 L’Aventure, Cote a Cote
12 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 135/ bottle (inc GST $145.80)
“Another magical wine from this estate is the 2019 Côte à Côte, a blend of 34% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre, with the balance Syrah. Brought up in 29% new French oak, it boasts a dense purple color as well as incredible aromatics of blue fruits, smoked game, violets, black pepper, and spring flowers. One of those incredibly complex, nuanced wines that still brings depth and richness on the palate, it’s perfectly balanced, has ultra-fine tannins, and a gorgeous finish. It’s the finest vintage of Côte à Côte ever produced. Drink it over the coming 15+ years.”

2019 L’Aventure, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve
6 bottles (x75cl) @ SGD$ 125/ bottle (inc GST $135)
“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve checks in as 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot that was aged 15 months in new barrels. It’s another seamless, incredibly pure, focused expression of this variety that will stand up to any Cabernet out there. Lots of crème de cassis, lead pencil, sweet tobacco, and chalky minerality all flow to a full-bodied red with ultra-fine tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. It’s going to benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and I suspect it won’t hit its early stages of maturity until after a solid decade.”
