Ornellaia is one of the most prestigious estates in Italy, producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines in the world. Le Volte is Ornellaia’s second wine, and it offers a more accessible and affordable way to experience their craftsmanship and terroir. Le Volte is a unique and adventurous blend of Sangiovese with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is aged for 10 months in a combination of oak barrels and cement tanks, resulting in a wine that is:

• Structured: It has a solid backbone of tannins and acidity that give it a long and bright finish.
• Fresh: It has a lively and vibrant character that reflects the Mediterranean climate and the coastal influence of the estate.
• Balanced: It has a harmonious and elegant palate that combines the power and richness of the international varieties with the finesse and complexity of the native grape.

For our Master of Wine Matthew Hemming, Le Volte is a “fresh, fruit-driven and juicy red that introduces Tuscany’s own Sangiovese alongside Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It provides supple and uncomplicated early drinking, with a touch of Ornellaia class.” Other critics also appreciate these three vintages, saying: “I like the Mediterranean flavors in this vintage…Le Volte is sumptuous…is terrific.”
