Inglenook Rubicon: 3 Stellar Vintages of A Historic Napa Red

We are delighted to offer three superb vintages of the Inglenook’s famous Rubicon, the 2019, 2016 and 2013 in bottle and rare magnums. With scores up to 100 points, this parcel is a showcase for one of Napa’s most historic reds across a trio of touchstone vintages and an excellent opportunity to take all three into your collection.

In the 1940s, Inglenook was responsible for a series of wines so good that they elevated the reputation of the entire Napa region. However, it fell on hard times in the 1960s, only to be resurrected by filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. In the last decade, quality has gone up a notch or two, with these vintages representative of a retune to past glories.

2013 is always of interest as it remains one of the high watermarks for Napa reds, with Robert Parker calling it, at the time, the best vintage he’s ever tasted for Napa. Inglenook’s is excellent and, for Antonio Galloni, has “Layers of dark fruit built into a crescendo of aromas”. 2016 is not far behind in overall quality, and again Inglenook took full advantage to make a wine that has “striking textural depth and sweetness”.

With 100 points from Jane Anson, the 2019 is one of the wines of the vintage in Napa. For her, this is “A storrming, stonking Napa wine, playing at the top of its game in 2019” and “Somehow takes the power and concentration of Napa but makes it full of texture, life, light and shade”.

Please let us know if you would like some of these by contacting your account manager or by simply replying to this email.

With best wishes,
The Vinum Team

A storrming, stonking Napa wine, playing at the top of its game in 2019. Somehow takes the power and concentration of Napa but makes it full of texture, life, light and shade. Espresso, liqourice root, cocoa bean, cassis, cranberry, black cherry, cold ash and crayon. Hard not to fall in love with, nothing overdone, everything in its place. 2016 Inglenook, Rubicon
40 cases (6*75cl OWC) @ SGD $1,270 ($1,371.60 inc GST) per case
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is powerful, dark and unctuous, while retaining a super-classic sense of structure. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, leather, spice and menthol infuse the 2016 with striking textural depth and sweetness. (2019) www.vinous.com Drink 2022-2041

2013 Inglenook, Rubicon
40 cases (6*75cl OWC) @ SGD $1,340 ($1,447.20 inc GST) per case
The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon emerges from the back part of the property, which lies on the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains. Here the wines are dense, powerful and structured. That is exactly what comes through in the 2013. Layers of dark fruit built into a crescendo of aromas, flavors and textures laced with mocha, espresso, gravel and dark spice overtones. The new oak that was so prominent at the outset has begun to integrate and in so doing is allowing the fruit to come through to a greater degree than in the past. This is a tremendous showing for the 2013 Rubicon. (2016) www.vinous.com Drink 2020-2038
