Highly rated Clos de la Roche - immediately available from stock

The more I taste 2021 red Burgundies, the more I start to admire the vintage.  Remember the 2001s, the 2007s, the 2014s…?  All rather derided and ignored on release, each of them equally sought-after and delicious today!  En primeur, I couldn’t give 2007s away, today I snap them up on sight for current drinking.  The 2021s are set to join this group, so I urge you to buy them today before the word gets out about the quality.

I’m back at CLF (Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot) to taste the 2021s, and my expectations are high.  They always rise if the vintage is on the vivid, cooler side.

Clos de la Roche is quintessential Morey, its slight aromatic wildness differentiating it from a top Chambolle-Musigny, and its tight linear structure ensuring longevity.
– Jasper Morris MW / Inside Burgundy

We are thrilled to have a large parcel of Domaine Coquard-Loison-Fleurot’s flagship Clos de la Roche immediately available and lying in our Singapore cellars.

During en primeur it is often necessary only to sell the Grand Crus ‘tied’ to cases of village wine, reflecting the proportions in which we have to buy from the domaines.  Exceptionally, we are delighted to offer this Clos de la Roche Grand Cru untied, without allocations and free of any purchase restrictions.

With 93-96pts from Jasper Morris MW, 92-95pts from Allen Meadows and 93-95pts from Neal Martin, this is a serious Grand Cru making no concessions to the (undeserved) reputation of the vintage.

If you value vivid fruit purity, poise and precision in your red Burgundy, then this is for you.

Have a great week ahead,
Matthew Hemming MW

A fine even purple. The bouquet is much less expressive than the Echezeaux, but the density is there. You can smell the stone says Thomas. The power comes in the middle, more structured, a mineral feel and blueberry finish. Drink from 2030-2036.
93-96pts – Jasper Morris MW / Inside Burgundy

An ultra-fresh and attractively spicy nose blends the essence of red cherry and raspberry with those of earth and floral wisps. The cool, intense and almost crisp middleweight flavors possess terrific delineation on the moderately austere and strikingly complex finale. This is an impressive effort for the vintage though patience will absolutely be necessary.
92-95pts – Sweet Spot – Allen Meadowns / Burghound

The 2021 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru showed just a tiny reduction on the nose but one can still discern the flinty red berry fruit underneath, and hints of pressed rose petal. The palate is well-balanced with crunchy black fruit, slatey, and quite mineral, that the reduction might accentuate. Persistent on the finish. This is an intellectual proposition in a vintage where that is uncommon.
93-95pts – Neal Martin / Vinous
