CALIFORNIA

2018 Kenzo Estate Sei Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc 2nd Disgorgement
$145 per bottle (inc GST $156.60) per bottle

2019 Carter Cellars, Hossfeld Coliseum Red Blend
$135 (inc GST $145.80) per bottle

“[…] The silky and balanced finish is wrapped in ripe, lush tannins that showcase the best traits of a Merlot and Cabernet blend from Napa.”
94-96 points Jeb Dunnuck

2019 Carter Cellars, Carter Cabernet Sauvignon
$210 (inc GST $226.80) per bottle

“[…] The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Carter storms out with profound notes of creme de cassis, prines and mince pies, followed by suggestions of mocha, bay leaves, and sandalwood with a hint of dusty soil. The rich concentrated, full-bodied palate is packed with layers of black fruits and exotic sspices, supported by a solid foundation of grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing with great length.”
97 points Lisa Perroti-Brown

2019 Carter Cellars, Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper
$240 (inc GST $259.20) per bottle

“The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Missouri Hopper, a new wine in this range, is terrific. It has all the savoriness that is such a signature of this southern sector in Oakville, along with the textural richness readers have come to expect from Mark Carter. I love the energy and vibrancy here. The Hopper Cabernet is a great addition to this lineup. Don’t miss it. (Drink between 2026-2039)”
97 points Antonio Galloni

2016 Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon
$450 (inc GST $486) per bottle

“The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot and was bottled in August 2018. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts out of the glass with exotic spice notes of star anise, fenugreek and cumin seed over a core of blackberry pie, wild blueberries and warm cassis with hints of kirsch, cigar box and mocha plus a waft of smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is jam-packed with vibrant black, blue and red fruits plus tons of spicy sparks, framed by wonderfully ripe, fine-grained tannins and beautiful freshness, finishing long and perfumed.”
98 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2018 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
$230 per bottle (inc GST $248.40) per bottle

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is elegant, deep and classy. Inky dark purplish fruit, savory herbs, menthol, licorice and spice. The purity of the fruit is remarkable today. There is plenty of youthful Howell Mountain tannin, so readers will have to be patient. Bright floral accents lift the red/purplish berry fruit nicely. This is such an expressive, alluring Cabernet. (Drink between 2028-2043)”
97 points Antonio Galloni

2017 Dunn Vineyards, Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
$240 per bottle (inc GST $69.55) per bottle

“The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is sure to make Dunn fans happy. Powerful and ample, it marries the natural intensity of the year with the savoriness that makes Howell Mountain Cabernets so distinctive. Dark blue/purplish fruit, graphite, spice, leather, dried herbs and lavender imbue the 2017 with striking intensity and character. I can’t wait to see how it ages. The 2017 is a positively stunning edition of the Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. (Drink between 2027-2047)”
97 points Antonio Galloni

ITALY

2018 Eredi Fuligni, Brunello di Montalcino
$100 (inc GST $108) per bottle

“The Fuligni 2018 Brunello di Montalcino stands out for its smooth integration of aromas and the carefully balanced intensity achieved here, which shows momentum but also remains very fine and nuanced. There are many sides to the bouquet with wild fruit, cassis, crushed stone, candied orange and fresh herbs or rosemary. A floral note also appears that suggests rose or iris root. The tannins are very well managed and silky. You hardly feel them, yet the wine offers firm structure throughout. This is a production of 35,000 bottles and one I am happy to recommend.”
95 points Monica Larner

2019 La Ca’ Nova, Barbaresco
$55 (inc GST $59.40) per bottle

“La Ca’ Nova 2019 Barbaresco will tempt readers with its effusive aromatics and compelling Nebbiolo fruit, but a few years in bottle are advisable to help the tannins soft. Medium in body and wonderfully translucent, the 2019 is such a great example of what Barbaresco should be. Bright red fruit, orange peel, white pepper, mint and crushed rocks lend striking energy throughout. Vibrant saline notes support the dry, bracing finish. Vineyard sites are Ovello, Cole and Loreto. (Drink between 2025-2039)”
93 points Antonio Galloni

2019 La Ca’ Nova, Barbaresco Montefico Bric Mentina
$65 (inc GST $70.20) per bottle

“The 2019 Barbaresco Montefico Vigna Bric Mentina is a powerful, dense wine. Sage, mint, tobacco, orange peel, kirsch and rose petal emerge from the glass. Just bottled, the 2019 packs a serious punch of Nebbiolo acid and tannin. A classically austere Barbaresco, the Montefico is a gem in the making. This is Montefico through and through. What a wine! (Drink between 2027-2044)”
96 points Antonio Galloni

2018 Luigi Einaudi Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi
$65 (inc GST $70.20) per bottle
“The 2018 Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi shows the wilder side of Nebbiolo in its virile, potent personality. The flavors are dark and mysterious. Dark cherry, dried flowers, lavender, asphalt, spice and scorched earth develop, adding to the wine’s decidedly somber personality. The Terlo is an intriguing wine that has a ton to offer. (Drink between 2024-2038)”
92 points Antonio Galloni

2018 Luigi Einaudi, Barolo Cannubi
$85 (inc GST $91.80) per bottle

“The 2018 Barolo Cannubi is another terrific wine in this range from Einaudi. There is an effortless, gracious quality to the Cannubi that is impossible to miss. Expressive aromatics meld into a core of creamy, exquisitely layered Cannubi red-toned fruit. Sweet red cherry, red plum, rose petal, mint and blood orange emerge, but only with great reluctance. The 2018 is pretty closed right now, but that won’t be an issue in another few years’ time. (Drink between 2024-2038)”
93 points Antonio Galloni

2020 Sandrone, Dolcetto d’Alba
$40 (inc GST $43.20) per bottle

“The 2020 Dolcetto d’Alba is fresh, bright and nicely lifted. In this vintage, the Dolcetto is aromatic and medium in body. The combination of the year and a stylistic shift yielded an especially classic Dolcetto that will come as a shock to anyone who has been following the estate since the 2000s, give or take, when this wine was usually opulent and dense. Red cherry/plum and floral accents linger. (Drink between 2022-2028)”
89 points Antonio Galloni

2018 Sandrone, Barolo Le Vigne
$145 (inc GST $156.60) per bottle

“One of my personal favorites, the 2018 Barolo Le Vigne is savory in character and packed with dark fruit. Ripe cherry and redcurrant cedes to spice, licorice and fragrant rose. The oak is integrated, but there are added accents of spice and dark tar. Le Vigne is a blend of fruit from Baudana in Serralunga d’Alba, Villero in Castiglione Falletto, Vignane in Barolo and Merli in Novello.”
96 + points Monica Larner

2017 Elio Grasso, Barolo Ginestra Vigna Casa Mate
$110 (inc GST $118.80) per bottle

“The 2017 Barolo Ginestra Casa Matè is a dark, mysterious wine. Black cherry, menthol, tobacco, licorice, spice, new leather and pine meld together in a super-classic expression of Ginestra. Deep, rich and enveloping, the 2017 is so impressive in the early going. Here, too, the finesse of the tannins is remarkable. (Drink between 2025-2042)”
96 points Antonio Galloni

2017 Elio Grasso, Barolo Gavarini Vigna Chiniera
$110 (inc GST $118.80) per bottle

“Grasso’s 2017 Barolo Gavarini Chiniera is fabulous. In fact, the Gavarini is easily one of the wines of the vintage because it retains all of its classic signatures, which is also the sign of a first-class vineyard. Bright and vibrant in the glass, the Gavarini pulses with energy. Crushed red flowers, mint, chalk, white pepper, cinnamon and orange peel give the 2017 a super-classic Nebbiolo profile, as expressed in a relatively high-altitude site. The precision and finesse of the tannins – so hard to find in 2017- elevates the Gavarini into the realm of the sublime. (Drink between 2025-2042)”
96 points Antonio Galloni

2018 Renato Corino, Barolo Arborina
$85 (inc GST $91.80) per bottle

“The 2018 Barolo Arborina is a bit more open than it usually is. There is less depth, but also less tannin and overall structure. All the elements are nicely balanced, though, and that is why the 2018 shows so well. Sweet tobacco, cedar, mint, dried flowers and espresso add aromatic complexity throughout. (Drink between 2023-2038)”
92+ Antonio Galloni

2018 Renato Corino, Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata
$90 (inc GST $97.20) per bottle

“The 2018 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata is a very pretty and elegant wine. In 2018, there is maybe just a bit more nervousness and tannic spine than most years. Floral and spice accents lift the bright red/purplish fruit. At times relatively open and forward, while in other moments more restrained, the 2018 is full of complexity. This is nicely done. (Drink between 2024-2038)”
93 points Antonio Galloni
