Under the Radar for Now! 2019 Bordeaux

“The 2019 vintage has turned out brilliantly in Bordeaux.”
– William Kelle

“2019 is one of the most consistent vintages in Bordeaux in the 21st Century. The quality is incredibly reliable from top to bottom, in the same vein as 2016 and 2009.” Lisa Perrotti-Brown

We’re absolutely thrilled to present our exceptional collection of 2019 Bordeaux.

The consensus among critics is resoundingly clear: the 2019 vintage stands as a true masterpiece. Neal Martin asserts that “there’s no doubt 2019 is a genuinely remarkable Bordeaux vintage… Interestingly, when compared to the scores of the entire group in 2016, they were marginally higher.”

Within this remarkable selection, we’re pleased to showcase some unmissable gems:

  • The 2019 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion Blanc, awarded a remarkable 97 points by Lisa Perrotti-Brown, is available in various formats from 75cl to Imperial!
  • The 2019 Chateau Montrose, a perfect 100 points according to Lisa Perrotti-Brown, lauded for its “fantastic tension, finishing long, long, long. It’s truly breathtaking.”
  • The 2019 Trotanoy captivates with a score of 99 points, described by Lisa Perrotti-Brown as possessing “decadent scents of blueberry preserves and prunes, followed by notes of lavender, star anise, and crushed rocks, with a subtle undercurrent of ferrous allure.”
  • The 2019 Belair Monange, meriting 98 points from Jeb Dunnuck who declares “It’s stunning, […] it offers incredible pleasure today given its purity and flawless balance.”

Our recent tastings of the 2019 Bordeaux have revealed a remarkable character, beautifully unfolding in each glass.

“The 2019 La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc, 69.9% Semillon and 30.1% Sauvignon Blanc, is locked tight on the nose to begin, eventually offering glimpses at lime leaves and sea spray with wafts of white pepper and dill seed. Medium-bodied, the palate has plenty of tension and mineral layers, finishing savory.”

2019 Chateau Beausejour Duffau Lagarosse
5 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 920/ case (inc GST $ 993.60)
“The 2019 Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse is made from 86% Merlot and 14% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes barreling out with bold notes of stewed black plums, blackberry pie, and fruitcake, plus wafts of tar, Indian spices, and licorice. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich and densely packed with expressive black fruits, framed by firm, rounded tannins, finishing long and spicy.”
97 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2019 Chateau Belair Monange
8 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 1,080/ case (inc GST $ 1,166.40)
“The flagship 2019 Château Belair-Monange checks in as 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc from 25-year-old vines and raised in 50% new French oak. It’s a magical wine in the vintage and offers more depth and richness than just about every other Saint-Emilion out there, all while holding onto a gorgeous sense of finesse and elegance, which would almost have me guessing Pomerol in a blind tasting. Deep red and black fruits, truffly earth, tobacco, and spring flower notes all emerge on the nose, and this puppy is full-bodied, has a layered, seamless mouthfeel, gorgeous tannins, and one heck of a great finish. It’s stunning, and while it offers incredible pleasure today given its purity and flawless balance, it deserves 7-8 years of bottle age and will evolve for 30 years or more.”
98 Points Jeb Dunnuck

2019 Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion
11 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 1,100/ case (inc GST $ 1,188)
“I wasn’t able to taste the 2019 Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion from barrel, but it certainly brings the goods from bottle. Deep ruby/purple-hued, with a smorgasbord-like array of red, blue, and black fruits as well as violets, candied flowers, tobacco, and sappy herbs, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a deep, layered, concentrated mouthfeel, flawless balance, and that rare mix of power and elegance that truly great Pessac can deliver. Showing the more elegant style of the vintage, it checks in behind the magical, perfect 2018 but is very much in the style of the 2016. Readers will love having this beauty in the cellar, and it will evolve for 40-50 years if stored correctly. Hats off to winemaker Guillaume Pouthier for another thrilling wine.”
98 Points Jeb Dunnuck

2019 Chateau Domaine de Chevalier
5 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 590/ case (inc GST $ 637.20)
“The 2019 Domaine de Chevalier has a precise and complex bouquet with blackberry, cedar and tobacco scents, quite Médoc-like in style. This is thoroughly engaging. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, exquisitely integrated oak, fleshy and fine-boned with a precise finish. This is outstanding. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. (Drink between 2025-2055)”
97 Points Neal Martin

2019 Chateau Grand Mayne
4 cases (x12) @ SGD$ 780/ case (inc GST $ 842.40)
“The 2019 Grand Mayne has a beautifully defined, pure bouquet of black cherry, blueberry, crushed violet and mineral aromas. The harmonious palate is medium-bodied with fine definition, crisp acidity and touches of dark chocolate toward the finish, which displays both power and elegance. This is a superb Grand Mayne courtesy of Jean-Antoine Nony. (Drink between 2024-2050)”
95 Points Neal Martin

2019 Chateau Guillot Clauzel
3 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 780/ case (inc GST $ 842.4)
“The 2019 Guillot Clauzel is every bit as compelling as it was from barrel. Rich fruit and racy contours show the exuberance of the warm summer and yet persistent mineral-drive, savory undertones add distinctive character. It’s the sort of wine that needs a few years in bottle to fully blossom. Vibrant dark fruit, dried rose petal, licorice and menthol build into the potent finish. This is the second vintage made under the direction of Guillaume Thienpont. The future certainly looks bright here.”
93 Points Antonio Galloni

2019 Haut Bailly II
6 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 330/ case (inc GST $ 356.40)
“A blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Haut-Bailly II is deep garnet-purple colored. It strolls nonchalantly out with open notions of stewed black plums, blackberry pie, and underbrush with hints of licorice, tar, and bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has bags of finesse with ripe, soft tannins and seamless freshness supporting the crunchy black fruits, finishing long and lifted.”
94 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2019 Chapelle d’Ausone
4 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 1,290/ case (inc GST $ 1391.20)
“The 2019 Chapelle d’Ausone is dense, powerful and beautifully layered in the glass. Wild red cherry, plum, exotic spice, dried flowers, mocha, rose petal and espresso are some of the many notes that give the bouquet its beguiling personality. There’s real textural intensity and resonance here. As has been the case for some time, Chapelle d’Ausone is superb. If anything, it suffers from the perception of being a ‘second wine.’ It is that only in name.”
94 Points Antonio Galloni

2019 La Gravette de Certan
6 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 570/ case (inc GST $ 615.60)
“The 2019 La Gravette de Certan, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. It races out with bright, expressive notions of black cherries, raspberry preserves, and fresh plums with hints of crushed rocks and black olives. The full-bodied palate delivers a lively backbone and nice ripe, approachable tannins with a lifted finish.”
93 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2019 Chateau L’If
2 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 1,800/ case (inc GST $ 1,944)
1 case of Magnums (3×1.5L) @ SGD$ 1,860/ case (inc GST $ 2,008.80)
“The 2019 L’If is the sort of wine I would like to spend hours with. There is just too much to it. At times the 2019 is opulent and quite racy, and yet in other moments it’s the underlying minerality and tension in the wine that are most evident. Black cherry, herb, incense, licorice and mocha gradually open over time. The 25% Cabernet Franc comes through nicely, both in the wine’s aromatic profile and overall structure. L’If is a wine to buy and cellar for a decade or more. I loved it.”
97+ Points Antonio Galloni

2019 Chateau Latour A Pomerol
5 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 600/ case (inc GST $ 648)
“Deep garnet-purple colored 2019 Latour a Pomerol is 100% Merlot. It soars out of the glass with evocative notes of boysenberry preserves, black cherry compote, and Chinese five spice, plus hints of potpourri and dried mint. The full-bodied, rich fruit coats the palate with blackberry and exotic spicy flavors, framed by velvety tannins and finishing with impressive length.”
94+ Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2019 Chateau Lynch Bages
19 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 1,100/ case (inc GST $ 1,188)
“The 2019 Lynch-Bages has an outgoing bouquet, the new oak not as well integrated as its peers at the moment, more inchoate by comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, quite saline with black pepper, controlled and focused towards the classy finish. It oozes sophistication and feels extraordinarily long. Wondrous. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting. (Drink between 2026-2055)”
97 Points Neal Martin

2019 Chateau Montrose
19 bottles (1bot/OWC) @ SGD$ 240/ bottle (inc GST $ 259.20)
10 Magnums (1mag/OWC) @ SGD$ 490/ Mag (inc GST $ 529.20)
“The 2019 Montrose is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it explodes with bombastic notes of creme de cassis, blueberry pie, and black cherry compote, followed by wafts of violets, star anise, underbrush, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is rich without being weighty, delivering a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic tension, finishing long, long, long. Stunning.”
100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown

2019 Chateau Pichon Lalande
3 cases (x12) @ SGD$ 3,300/ case (inc GST $ 3,564)
“One of the wines of the vintage, the 2019 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande soars from the glass with complex aromas of wild berries, tobacco leaf, loamy soil, burning embers and hints of violets and rose petals. Full-bodied, deep and complete, it’s velvety and seamless, with a broad attack and a multidimensional core of lively, succulent fruit. Concluding with a long, expansive finish, it’s a remarkable young Pauillac that will offer many years of thrilling drinking. Congratulations to Nicolas Glumineau and his team, who are ushering in a new golden age at an address where standards were always very high.”
98 Points William Kelley

2019 Chateau Rouget
13 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 360/ case (inc GST $ 388.80)
“The 2019 Rouget is bold, plush and racy to the core. Raspberry jam, spice, kirsch, leather, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all meld together effortlessly. This sumptuous, flamboyant Pomerol captures all of the natural intensity of the year.”
94 Points Antonio Galloni

2019 Chateau Trotanoy
2 cases (x6) @ SGD$ 2,700/ case (inc GST $ 2,916)
“The 2019 Trotanoy, 100% Merlot, is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs swirling to bring out decadent scents of blueberry preserves and prunes, followed by notes of lavender, star anise, and crushed rocks with a ferrous undercurrent. The full-bodied palate has tons of energy with loads of mineral sparks and a racy line, textured by very fine, ripe tannins, finishing with great length.”
