BORDEAUX

2009 Chateau Pontet Canet
SGD $3,120 ($3,400.80 inc GST) per case (x12 OWC) – 6 cases available
SGD $1,560 ($1,700.40 inc GST) per case (x6 OWC) – 11 cases available

100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown
“Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Pontet-Canet prances out of the glass with exuberant notes of black cherry preserves, warm cassis, and boysenberries, followed by a powerful perfume of star anise, candied violets, fallen leaves, and crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is packed with decadently rich, sensuous black berry preserves and exotic spices flavors, backed by a velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length. Stunning.”

2009 Chateau Pichon Baron
SGD $3,150 ($3,433.50 inc GST) per case (x12 OWC) – 1 case available

98 Points Robert Parker
“Revealing incredible quality and performing better than it did from barrel, the 2009 appears to be the greatest Pichon Longueville Baron since the 1990 and 1989. An amazing opaque blue/purple color is followed by scents of spring flowers, graphite, smoky charcoal, incense, blackberries, blueberries and hints of coffee and chocolate. Incredibly intense, pure and flawlessly constructed with extravagant layers of fruit and richness, this offering has developed beautifully under the management of Christian Seeley. It is a voluptuous, opulent Pichon Longueville Baron that may eclipse anything they have made in the past. This brilliant wine should be at its peak between 2018 and 2045.”

2010 Chateau Grand Puy Lacoste
SGD $1,440 ($1,569.60 inc GST) per case (x12 OWC) – 1 case available

97 Points Neal Martin
“Two bottles of the 2010 Grand Puy-Lacoste were opened, the first showing just a little oxidation. The second has an attractive minty bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with subtle marine/seaweed notes, a touch of graphite developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with impressive tension and wonderful freshness right from the start. There is a sense of coiled up energy here and the finish just leaves you breathless.”

2009 Chateau Pavie
SGD $2,000 ($2,180 inc GST) per Double Magnum (x3L OWC) – 1 Double Magnum available

100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown
“Deep garnet with a touch of purple, the 2009 Pavie is quite closed to begin, needing a lot of shaking to bring out a powerful notes of blueberry pie, Black Forest cake, and cinnamon toast leading to a fragrant undercurrent of rose oil, licorice, and clove oil. The full-bodied palate is built like a brick house, with a firm frame of velvety tannins and fantastic tension framing the generous fruit, finishing with epic length and depth. It needs 5-7 years at least.”

2009 Chateau Montrose
SGD $4,350 ($4,741.50 inc GST) per case (x12 OWC) – 1 case available

100 Points William Kelley
“A brilliant wine that stands out as one of the high points of the vintage, the 2009 Montrose unwinds in the glass with a rich and incipiently complex bouquet of dark berries, cigar wrapper and loamy soil, framed by a deftly judged touch of new oak. Full-bodied, broad and enveloping, it’s a velvety, layered and impressively dynamic wine that’s deep and concentrated, exhibiting terrific balance and a long, resonant finish. While it is still five or six years away from showing all its cards, I have drunk this benchmark for contemporary Montrose with immense pleasure three times this year. In style, it’s hard to find an obvious comparison (and I have drunk Montrose back to 1895), but I would be inclined to invoke a fresher, more complete and more powerful version of the estate’s very successful 2003.”

2009 Chateau Lynch Bages
SGD $2,700 ($2,943 inc GST) per case (x12 OWC) – 1 case available

96 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown
“The medium to deep garnet colored 2009 Lynch Bages is boldly scented of crème de cassis, blackberry pie and baked plums with chocolate box, incense and underbrush suggestions plus a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, taut and well sustained in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy texture and a lively backbone lifting the black fruit core to a nice long finish.”

RHONE

2007 Henri Bonneau, Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins
SGD $8,700 ($9,483 inc GST) per case (x12 OC) – 1 case available

98 Points Jeb Dunnuck
“Tasting like the essence of Provence, Bonneau’s 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Célestins is ruby-hued with an incredible perfume of kirsch liqueur, new saddle leather, Provençal garrigue, lavender, and exotic spices, and it just about jumps out of the glass with overflowing character. Deep, full-bodied, exuberant, and incredibly sexy, with sweet tannins and a great finish, it reminds me of the 1990 and is a heavenly bottle of Châteauneuf du Pape to enjoy over the coming 10-15 years.”

2012 Henri Bonneau, Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins
SGD $3,000 ($3,270 inc GST) per Magnum case (3×1.5L OC) – 1 case available

94/96 Points Jeb Dunnuck
“Scheduled to be bottled in October (it’s probably already in bottle), the 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve des Célestins is gorgeous stuff and has everything you expect from this estate. Black currants, garrigue, beef blood and ground pepper all give way to a ripe, sexy and full-bodied beauty that has sweet tannin. I’m quite sure Henri would snub his nose and call the wine too easy, in his gregarious way, but count me as a fan.”

2015 Henri Bonneau, Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins
SGD $5,400 ($5,886 inc GST) per case (x12 OC) – 1 case available

96+ Points Jeb Dunnuck
“Reminding me of the 2005 (as well as the 1989) with its rich, powerful, muscular style, the 2015 Châteauneuf Du Pape Réserve Des Célestins reveals a deep, almost opaque ruby/purple hue as well as a great nose of blackcurrant and plum-like fruits intermixed with notions of smoked meats, chocolate, Asian hoisin sauce, and roasted garrigue. This full-bodied, concentrated Châteauneuf has building yet ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a meaty, bloody character that develops with air. It’s not as ripe or exotic as the 2016, but its tannins are much riper and more polished than past vintages, and this is just loaded with potential. It needs to be forgotten for just 3-4 years, but it will be a 30-year wine.”

ITALY

2007 Gaja, Sori San Lorenzo Langhe Nebbiolo
SGD $1,050 ($1,144 inc GST) per Magnum (x1.5L OWC) – 1 Magnum available

98 Points Antonio Galloni
“The 2007 Langhe Sorì San Lorenzo is perhaps the most massive, virile wine in this lineup, and accordingly it will require the most time. Tannic and austere at the outset, the wine gradually opens to reveal staggering richness and depth in its dark fruit. The wine turns more elegant in the glass, revealing a myriad of black fruit, tar, licorice, spices and scorched earth in a dazzling display of class and elegance. This is one for the ages.”

2017 Soldera, Toscana IGT Sangiovese
SGD $5,100 ($5,559 inc GST) per case (x6 OC) – 4 cases available

97 Points Antonio Galloni
“The 2017 Toscana Sangiovese is the last wine I tasted with Gianfranco Soldera before he passed away in 2019. I had a visit scheduled for late August that year, but an unusually early harvest required Soldera to push back my tasting by a few days. By the time I arrived at Case Basse in early September, all the grapes had been picked, and our tasting started with those young musts. Today, the 2017 is sensual and racy, showing all the open-knit, seductive character of this dry, warm vintage. Soft contours wrap around a core of red berry fruit, kirsch, rose petals, mint and cinnamon. This will be a gorgeous wine to follow over the next two decades or more, but cellaring is not at all essential.”

2018 Soldera, Toscana IGT Sangiovese
SGD $5,100 ($5,559 inc GST) per case (x6 OC) – 5 cases available

96+ Points Monica Larner
“The elusive and highly collectible Soldera Case Basse 2018 100% Sangiovese is already available in certain markets yet ultimately proves very hard to buy. I suspect it is easier to locate in the United States than in Italy. No matter, Soldera advocates will be very pleased with this latest release that maintains enormous Sangiovese character and brightness despite the uneven growing season (that saw a wet and cool spring and a hot summer). The legendary Gianfranco Soldera died the morning of February 16, 2019, from a heart attack while driving along the bucolic, vineyard-lined road near his winery. That means this is the last vintage manned directly by Soldera, a man who remained extremely active in the vineyards and the winery until the very end. His send-off to us is a delicately nuanced wine with cassis, wild berry, rosemary, pencil shaving and blood orange. This is a beautiful wine that pays tribute not only to Gianfranco Soldera but to his non-interventionist vision of Italian wine that has influenced so many younger vintners in his wake.”

2019 Soldera, Toscana IGT Sangiovese

SPAIN

1995 Vega Sicilia, Unico
SGD $1,600 ($1,744 inc GST) per Magnum (x1.5L OWC) – 1 Magnum available

96 Points Luis Gutiérrez
“1994 and 1995 were a bit like 2004 and 2005, all very good vintages, but the ones ending in four were more elegant and the ones ending in five were more powerful and tannic. What I wrote about the 1995 Único in magnum is that it is tannic, serious and austere, a blend of Tinto Fino with 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were harvested after the 27th of September under dry weather and high temperatures, but the wine has 14% alcohol. It’s a vintage that combines power with elegance. 2,247 magnums. The label has a painting from artist Miquel Barceló.”

1998 Vega Sicilia, Unico
SGD $1,600 ($1,744 inc GST) per Magnum (x1.5L OWC) – 2 Magnums available

97 Points John Gilman
“The 1998 Único is one of the great modern classics at this fine estate. The wine includes just a touch more cabernet sauvignon in the blend than its more recent compatriots, with eight percent of this varietal complementing the ninety-two percent of tempranillo. At twenty-two years of age the wine is really starting to just sneak into its plateau of proper drinking, but has decades and decades and decades of life still ahead of it. The bouquet soars from the glass in a brilliant blend of plums, black cherries, eucalyptus, a gorgeous base of soil, pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, a suave framing of new oak and the first presage of the blood orange to come with extended bottle aging. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full-bodied and very, very long, with a great core of fruit, lovely soil signature, moderate tannins and a long, gorgeously complex and vibrant finish. This is an impeccably balanced, great vintage of Único! (Drink between 2025-2100)”

2005 Vega Sicilia, Unico
SGD $1,100 ($1,199 inc GST) per Magnum (x1.5L OWC) – 1 Magnum available

97 Points Josh Raynolds
“Saturated ruby. Explosively perfumed aromas of fresh ripe red fruits, floral oils, pipe tobacco and incense take on sexy vanilla and woodsmoke nuances as the wine opens up. Densely packed yet shockingly lithe on the palate, offering intense cherry liqueur, red currant and spicecake flavors given spine by a core of juicy acidity. Shows superb energy and clarity, finishing sweet, smoky and extremely long; velvety tannins add gentle grip. (Drink between 2022-2036)”

USA

2012 Dominus Estate Proprietary Red
SGD $1,800 ($1,962 inc GST) per case (x6 OWC) – 1 cases available

100 Points Antonio Galloni
“The 2012 Dominus is a wild, exotic wine. Harvest began on October 9 and finished on the 21st, very late by present-day standards. Ripe red cherry, kirsch, cinnamon, rose petal, incense and rose petal soar out of the glass. Deep and vibrant, with terrific freshness, Dominus is very clearly one of the wines of the year. I loved the 2012 from barrel, but found it quite closed after bottling. Now, after all these years, I finally see the realization of the potential suggested in my barrel tastings. Magnificent.”
