100/100 (JD) "this is a heavenly Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon I wish every reader could taste" - The 2021 Maybach Materium Cabernet Sauvignon

“Absolute pure perfection in wine”

– Jeb Dunnuck

Today we are excited to offer you the “absolute pure perfection” that is the 2021 Maybach Materium Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Tightly allocated with a minuscule production of 490 cases and a perfect score, this gem from the already renowned 2021 vintage is worth adding to any collection.

2021 is the 16th vintage of Maybachs iconic Materium cuvee which is produced from a single block within the hillside Leopoldina Vineyard (formerly Weitz Vineyard), adjacent to Dalla Valle and overlooking Screaming Eagle and Tench Vineyard. Winemaking here is done by Thomas Rivers Brown who previously helped lead Schrader Cellars to a record of well over 30 perfect 100-point scores.

For Dunnuck, who lavishes praise and 100 points on the 2021 Maybach Materium, “this magical effort blends power and elegance flawlessly”. He talks about the “kaleidoscope-like array of black and blue fruits, chocolate, gravelly earth, and tobacco” and states confidently that he wishes “every reader could taste” it and that “it should blow your socks off for at least two decades”.

With scores and praise like this, this is an unmissable chance for Napa lovers to add to their cellars.

“Absolute pure perfection in wine, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Materium comes from the Weitz Vineyard in Oakville and is all varietal raised in mostly new barrels. It’s deep, saturated purple hue is followed by a kaleidoscope-like array of black and blue fruits, chocolate, gravelly earth, and tobacco, and it picks up an undeniable sense of minerality with time in the glass. Full-bodied and incredibly concentrated, with a stacked mid-palate and building yet perfect tannins, this magical effort blends power and elegance flawlessly. It needs at least 4-5 years in the cellar, but this is a heavenly Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon I wish every reader could taste. It should blow your socks off for at least two decades.”
