2022 Jadot Chevalier Montrachet: "extremely stylish... Really impressive" (JM)

We are delighted to offer the 2022 Louis Jadot Chevalier Montrachet Les Demoiselles Grand Cru. Made from an excellent plot within one of the planet’s best white wine vineyards, where the chalky soils and SE exposure mean complexity and power to balance the refined nature of the wine, this is a gem. Even better, it is available in good quantities and untied to lesser cuvees, as is often the case with prestigious Grand Crus such as this.

For Neal Martin there’s a lot to be excited about in 2022. He states, “I cannot remember a Burgundy vintage that elicited so much joy from barrel, and I’ve undertaken this exercise for over 20 years.” Specifically of the whites, he says “I appreciate the whites’ freshness, particularly their textures, and the deft use of extract that lends weight and presence and heightens umami”

With 95-97 points, the Jadot Demoiselles is one of his picks. For Martin, there is wonderful definition towards the finish with a real peacock’s tail of intensity”His score is matched by Jasper Morris MW, who found The bouquet is extremely stylish, showing a Chevalier with depth of flavour” and that there is “Really impressive concentration here”.

This is a superb Grand Cru from a compelling vintage. Do take a look and let us know if you would like to secure a case or two.

The 2022 Chevalier-Montrachet Demoiselles Grand Cru has an almost terse bouquet telling you to “go away” at first. It coheres in the glass, gaining intensity with crushed rock filtering through the Mirabelle and orange pith scents, just a touch of wild mint in the background. The palate is very well-balanced with a keen line of acidity. Yes, there is some oak to be assimilated here, but there is wonderful definition towards the finish with a real peacock’s tail of intensity. Sophisticated, but it will need time to fully integrate the wood. (2023) www.vinous.com Drink 2027-2055

A fine mid lemon yellow. The bouquet is extremely stylish, showing a Chevalier with depth of flavour. There is lots more to tease out. Really impressive concentration here, just a few toasty notes, an extra body that comes from this emplacement. Just the right mineral acidity behind. Drink from 2032-2040.
