98-100 points Antonio Galloni
97-99 points Jane Anson

If you’re only going to buy one Sauternes in this en primeur campaign, then 2023 Chateau Suduiraut looks a very strong option. Rated at a potentially perfect 98-100 points by Antonio Galloni, this is a stunning young sweet Bordeaux that makes a mockery of its price tag and stands out as an outrageous bargain.
2023 Sauternes is well worth buying as it was a tremendous vintage for sweet Bordeaux. For Antonio Galloni, “the 2023s are the most exceptional group of young wines I have ever tasted here” and “This is an epic vintage for Sauternes and Barsac in which many wines overachieve”. Suduiraut is his top scoring, the one to track down and buy.
A look at Galloni’s note shows it to be a special wine in the making. For him, this is “A real stunner” and Light on its feet yet wonderfully deep… a Sauternes that is more finesse than power”. Jane Anson is just a fraction behind with 97-99 points and praises the incredible length and layers on the finish of this stunning wine”.

The 2023 Suduiraut (100% Sémillon) is a real stunner. Light on its feet yet wonderfully deep, the 2023 offers up a heady mix of tangerine oil, mint, white flowers, apricot and passion fruit. Readers will find a Sauternes that is more finesse than power. The 2023 is essentially a blend of three picks. The first was done at the end of September and accounted for 20% of the crop. The core of the vineyard, about 75%, was picked in a day ten window in October, following the September rains. A smaller third pick rounded out the harvest. (2024) www.vinous.com Drink 2026-2043

Pale lemon-gold in color, the 2023 Suduiraut swans out of the glass with flamboyant notes of candied orange peel, lemon meringue pie, lime cordial, and beeswax, followed by hints of preserved ginger, allspice, and white truffle. The palate is both rich and bursting with freshness, delivering waves of baking spice and citrus preserve flavors, leading to incredible length and layers on the finish of this stunning wine. This is 100% Semillon, with a pH of 3.80 and 150 g/l of residual sugar. (2024) www.thewineindependent.com
