New Releases From Krug: The Grande Cuvee 172 and Rose 28th Edition

“Krug is more than a Champagne. It is a word that stands for artistry, tradition, craftsmanship, and moments of pure pleasure… A chance to drink a Krug is never to be missed!”
– Richard Juhlin

Two new releases from the famous Champagne House of Krug today: the 172 Edition of the flagship Grande Cuvee alongside the 28th Edition of the comparatively rare Krug Rose.

Krug’s Grande Cuvee is a masterpiece in the art of blending. Based around 2016, it is comprised of an incredible 146 different wines spread across 11 different vintages back to 1998. This multitude of wines gives Krug its signature layered complexity and results in a unique Champagne that drinks beautifully on release, while still having great capacity to age. For James Suckling, the 172 is worthy of an excellent 97 points.

The Krug Rose 28th Edition is also excellent. Like the Grande Cuvee, it is based around 2016 and is a blend of multiple wines from many vintages. For Suckling, it is Full-bodied with a fine texture and phenolic tension. Bright and already delicious” and he gives it 97 points.

As Champagne expert Richard Juhlin says, “A chance to drink a Krug is never to be missed!” which makes new releases always worth snapping up. Details are below. Do take a look and let us know if you would like to secure any.

NV Krug Grande Cuvee 172 Edition
£945 per case (6*75cl OC) in bond
97 points James Suckling
Beautiful notes of dried citrus fruit, lemon curd and dried apples with hints of spices, dried flowers and subtle brioche. I like the polished and caressing texture and steady, refreshing acidity. It’s fresh and even austere, with notes of ground spices. So vertical and firm. Structured and long. Drink or hold. (2024) www.jamessuckling.com

£699 per case (3*75cl OC) in bond – Only 10 cases!
97 points James Suckling
Beautiful peach-pink color with a copper hue and a lot of floral nuances on the nose, offering dried cherries, peach skin and spices. It shows intensity and power, yet with elegance and precision. Full-bodied with a fine texture and phenolic tension. Bright and already delicious with some zesty, dried orange peel character at the end. Drink or hold. (2024) www.jamessuckling.com
