Perfect Scores from true Napa Royalty: Lail Vineyards 2021 & 2018 J.Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon & 2021 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc

Anything associated with (Melka) is of undeniably high, high quality”

– Robert Parker

Today we are delighted to offer this selection of Lail Vineyards today, including the 2021 J. Daniel Cuvee Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Library release of the J. Daniel Cuvee and the 2021 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc. Rarely available outside of direct allocations (and with two 100 point scorers in the mix), we are incredibly thrilled to be able to offer you these sought after and highly rated wines from Napa royalty Robin Lail.

Robin’s great uncle founded Inglenook Estate and her father mentored some of Napa’s top talents including Robert Mondavi. Robin herself co-founded Dominus with Christian Moueix and Merryvale with Bill Harlan before having her own project.

Winemaker Phlippe Melka has been there since the start and has a CV spanning time at Haut-Brion, Cheval Blanc, Hundred Acres and Dominus to name a few! This truly is a great opportunity for Napa lovers.

The 2021 J. Daniel cuvee receives a perfect score from the Wine Advocates Joe Czerwinsky, who describes it as a “full-bodied beauty”. The 2018 meanwhile scores another perfect score, this time from Jeb Dunnuck who says that this “majestic, regal wine is going to drink brilliantly for 25 years or more”

Finally the 2021 Sauvignon Blanc receives 97 points by Lisa Perotti-Brown who describes it as slowly unfurling “with a gorgeous perfume of lime blossom, mandarin peel, pink grapefruit, and white peaches followed by hints of chalk dust and struck flint”

100  pts Wine Advocate Joe Czerwinski

“Lail’s 2021 J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon blends lots from several high-end vineyards, including Heimark (Calistoga), Vine Hill Ranch (Oakville) and Steltzner (Stags Leap), plus Lail’s own Mole Hill on Howell Mountain. It’s an exciting wine, starting from the pulse-quickening aromas of raspberries and black cherries tinged with dark chocolate. In the mouth, this full-bodied beauty is richly concentrated, with a sensuous texture somewhere between silky and velvety, while the softly dusty finish shows terrific length and a spine-tingling hint of licorice. To reduce this wine to deceptively simple yet hard-to-pin-down words, it’s complex, harmonious and elegant, yet it’s enough of its place that it could only come from Napa Valley.” (Jan 2024)

2018 Lail Vineyards J. Daniel Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon Library Release

2cs (6*75cl OWC) @ £1,650 per case in bond

1,290 Cases Produced

 100  pts Jeb Dunnuck

““The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon J. Daniel Cuvee comes from a mix of terroirs (Howell Mountain, Stags Leap, Oakville, Calistoga) and is brought up in 75% new French oak. Heavenly notes of red and black currants, dried tobacco, sandalwood, flowers, and spice give way to a full-bodied, concentrated, yet weightless texture that carries awesome tannins, no hard edges, and just flawless balance. This majestic, regal wine is going to drink brilliantly for 25 years or more.” (Jan 2021)

2021 Lail Vineyards Georgia Sauvignon Blanc

8cs (6*75cl OWC) @ £840 per case in bond

416 Cases Produced

 97 pts Lisa Perotti-Brown

““The 2021 Georgia Sauvignon Blanc slowly unfurls with a gorgeous perfume of lime blossom, mandarin peel, pink grapefruit, and white peaches followed by hints of chalk dust and struck flint. The full-bodied palate delivers a decadently creamy texture, beautifully juxtaposed by a racy backbone neatly framing the intense peaches and citrus fruit layers, finishing long with a compelling steeliness.” (Aug 2023)
