Domaine Rousseau’s Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques is one of Burgundy’s best wines and has a price tag to match its lofty reputation. So, when a wine from the same 1er Cru in the same vintage beats it, and does so at a fraction of the cost, then it becomes an instant must-own. Louis Jadot’s 98–point Gevrey Chambertin Clos St Jacques achieved this in 2019, and we are thrilled to have some to offer.
We have been huge fans of Jadot in recent years as the wines are brilliant in quality, superbly made and yet always fairly priced. This 2019 proves that Jadot is a serious player and now capable of matching, or indeed beating, the big hitters. For Neal Martin, “there is wonderful density here” and “it romps home as best CSJ in show” out-scoring some elite wines.
His 98–point score is massive for a 1er Cru Burgundy and reason enough to seek out and buy this 2019. When placed in the context of the wines it has beaten in the same blind tasting, it becomes just about unmissable, as is demonstrated by the table above.
This is a fantastic buy. Do take a look and let us know if you would like any secured:
