A Fascinating & Rare Champagne Cuvee From A Brilliant Winemaker
If you’re a fan of under-the-radar Champagne made in tiny amounts by craftsmen at the top of their game, Emmanuel Brochet is a name to have on your radar. The wines here are “Concentrated, vinous and incisive… chiseled, penetrating Champagnes of impressive cut and intensity” for William Kelley and, therefore, worth seeking out. We are, therefore delighted to have a parcel of the NV Emmanuel Brochet Selected Extra Brut (Base 2020) available.
This is a fascinating cuvee from Brochet. It is made only rarely, in the best years, when Brochet is able to find grapes of sufficient quality from growers in the region. These grapes come from fellow growers that usually supply the best houses, but with prices falling, Brochet is able to take a selection of what he thinks are the very best for this cuvee. The result is a very interesting Champagne indeed.
2020, the vintage on which this cuvee is based, is shaping up to be very good with beautifully ripe grapes that are still balanced and precise. It’s a vintage to watch and this a cuvee to own.
