For our annual christmas get together Vinum UK met up in Porto Portugal for an indulgent couple of days tasting port at the local distilleries, visiting the Douro Valley and enjoying the local food.
We took an early train through the beautiful valley to arrive at our first destination of the day
Quinta de Noval: We started the day off with our introduction to LBV, Vintage and Tawny Port
Quinta do Bomfim: After an impressive distillery tour and learning about port production as well as cask choices we had our second tasting of the day of the different Dow LBV, Vintage and Tawny ports
Quinta Da Roeda: Our final tasting of the day was accompanied by a light lunch as we got a vineyard tour in the sun that came alongside an introduction to the history of the UNESCO heritage site that is the Douro Valley
Taylors: We had a very warm welcome at Taylors with a tour of their distillery which includes elements of a museum as well as an unforgettable tasting which saw us try their Very Very Old port with views of the river and port
Grahams: We finished the trip with a tour of the impressive distillery and a delicious dinner accompanied by local wine
