Bargain Barbaresco From "the single most under-the-radar winery in all of Piedmont" (Galloni)

Antonio Galloni made his name tasting the wines of Piedmont. It’s a region he has been exploring for decades and knows better than any other, so for him to single out a single winery as “the single most under–the–radar winery in all of Piedmont”, instantly marks it out as very special. That winery is La Ca Nova, its wines are brilliant, and the prices are almost too good to be true.

For Galloni, not only do the “wines just keep getting better and better”, but “prices remain exceedingly modest, especially within the context of today’s market”. It’s a combination that leads him to advise his readers, “I can’t recommend these wines highly enough.”

Each of these 2020s is exceptional. For Galloni, the Montestefano is “a dense, plush wine, in other words classic Montestefano” and “a gorgeous wine”. The Montefico Bric Mentina is “a very pretty wine that captures all the magic of this great site”. The Barbaresco “will drink well right out of the gate.”

We’ve been tasting here for several years and love the wines. They are pure and beautifully made representations of this revered region and some of its most hallowed vineyards.
