Glenfarclas Pagoda Series - Full Collection

We are delighted to have a complete set of the stunning Glenfarclas Pagodas to offer today, including the oldest bottles to ever be released from this legendary distillery.

The pagoda roof has been an architectural landmark at many a distillery since 1889 when Charles Doig first installed one at Dailuaine. These specially designed roofs were designed for the maltings at distilleries in order to assist with the flow of smoke and air to help dry the barley. Today, with many distilleries not having their own maltings, they are more a stylistic landmark than serving any particular purpose, but Glenfarlcas, along with Glencairn crystal, have created this five bottle series in homage to these striking quirks of Scottish distillery architecture.

The pagoda kiln at Glenfarclas was actually decommissioned in 1972 and now only serves as a historical marker, sitting above the entrance to the visitor centre. All of the whiskies in the Pagoda collection date from before 1972.

These stunning bottles have been produced by Glencairn from 30% lead crystal, the finest in the world that has a level of clarity only achievable at this quality of glass. It allows the colour of the whisky to beautifully shine through.

The first three Pagoads were released in 2016 as a the Reserve Trilogy Set, presented in decanters that were detailed with Chinese Guardian lions and bronze, silver or gold depending on the particular release. The final expressions were released in 2020 with the Ruby Reserve and Sapphire Reserve. They were bottled in 2017 but due to the intricate nature of the bottle designs, never made it onto the market for another three years! The age statement numbers on each bottle are embedded with either 34 rubies or 36 sapphires.
