Henri Boillot's Stunning 2022 Pulingy Montrachet Mouchere - "extraordinary, indeed grand cru, weight" (JM)
Henri Boillot makes sublime white Burgundy. These are pure and intense wines that pulse with energy, while still having plenty of flesh and fruit. They are consistently among the region’s most desirable whites. The 1er Cru monopole of Puligny Montrachet Clos de la Mouchere is perhaps the calling card of the domaine and perfectly encapsulates the intoxicating Boillot house-style. It is elegant and sophisticated while still approachable and inviting, so I am delighted to have some of the 5-Star 2022 to offer.
The 2022 is a superb Mouchere. Jasper Morris sampled it from barrel and found the palate “super powerful but also with subtlety” and the classic Boillot “electric backbone stops the power overturning the balance”. For him, there is “an extraordinary, indeed grand cru, weight”. He gives it and excellent 95-97 points and a full 5 Stars on his rating scale. It’s a big recommendation and make this 2022 stand out from the crowd.

Mid yellow, with a biscuity touch. Seems unsubtle until you get to the palate which is super powerful but also with subtlety. This Monopole vineyard comprises four distinct terroirs though they are always assembled. An electric backbone stops the power overturning the balance.
