Matches Le Pin At A Fraction Of The Price: The 2017 Chateau La Conseillante
Chateau La Conseillante is one of Pomerol’s most exciting wines. Beautifully styled, superb quality and excellent value, it’s an alluring beauty of a wine with a cult following for good reason. The 2017 is a bit of a gem as it’s superb and matches the mighty Le Pin in score yet is a fraction of the price. We are delighted to have a pristine parcel to offer directly from Bordeaux.
Sandwiched between 2016 and 2018, 2017 is a Bordeaux vintage that is easy to overlook. This would be a shame, as some gorgeous wines were made, and Conseillante is one of them. Lisa Perrotti-Brown is a huge fan, calling this 2017, “elegant, and lively in the mouth, it has intense red berry and floral layers, finishing with a minerally lift.”
Her 97-point score is eye-catching in a Pomerol at this price point and all the more so when placed into context. As mentioned, this matches Le Pin for Perrotti-Brown and, as the table above shows, it does so with a considerable price advantage. For shred Pomerol collectors, this is a buy.

97 points Lisa Perrotti-Brown
The 2017 La Conseillante is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet-purple colored, it leaps with notions of black and red cherry preserves, fresh black plums, and mulberries, plus hints of aniseed, Jasmine tea, and fragrant earth. Medium-bodied, elegant, and lively in the mouth, it has intense red berry and floral layers, finishing with a minerally lift. (2022)
