We are delighted to offer our allocation of the newly released 2020 Gaja Barbaresco. A lovely vintage for one of Italy’s most important wines, this is a worthy addition to any Gaja aficionado’s collection.
The calling card of this iconic house, the Gaja Barbareso is produced from fourteen vineyards in and around the village of Barbaresco. The average vine age is 40 years, which means complexity and concentration and each plot is vilified separately before blending to ensure that each parcel performs at its best.
This case and attention means consistent excellence, and the 2020 is no exception. From a relatively cool year, the 2020 is characterised by freshness and, while capable of extended ageing, will drink well young. It’s something picked up on by Jeb Dunnuck, who says, “it is medium-bodied, with elegance and refinement throughout… This seems to be a vintage that will drink well early but have plenty of longevity as well”.
Do take a look and let us know if you would like to secure any.
