We are delighted to offer the latest release from cult Champagne producer Henri Giraud. A tiny production multi-vintage blend based around the exceptional 2018 Champagne harvest, the MV18 is a gem of a Champagne that collectors and connoisseurs should have in the cellar.
Henri Giraud is a phenomenal producer, one that takes the concept of attention to detail to a whole new level. It has paid off as, for Galloni, “consistency is one of the hallmarks of elite domaines, and Giraud has been at the top for some time”.
The MV18 is fascinating. A blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay, two-thirds comes from the 2018 vintage and the final this from a ‘perpetual reserve’ of aged wines that was begun in 1990 and that adds immense complexity and character.
The component parts here are stellar, as Yohan Castaing says in Decanter “Recent reports confirm that the 2018 vintage is truly exceptional for Champagne. Special mention goes to the Pinot Noir, which ripened perfectly”. With such a high proportion of 2018 Pinot Noir in the blend, the MV18 is, therefore, a wine of immense potential.
Production is microscopic, with just a couple of thousand cases in a typical MV release.
