We are delighted to offer cases of one of the most interesting under-the-radar and perhaps under-valued Champagnes in the portfolio of Veuve Clicquot, the Extra Old Serie 3. A blend of eight vintages: 1990, 1998, 1999, 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013 and 2014, this is much more than your standard non-vintage, and a Champagne of complexity and nuance with a spectacular capacity to age. It one of those rare Champagnes that, whisper it, probably should cost a lot more.

Veuve Clicquot has one of the largest collections of reserve wines in Champagne, which means it can craft expectational cuvees such as this. With eye-catching vintages included, such as 1996, 1999, 2008 and 2012, the quality level here is extremely high and that means an excellent score and note from Richard Juhlin, who found it “stylish” and “ultra-beautiful”.

Given the age and quality of the reserve wines in the blend, Veuve Cliquot Extra Old is a Champagne that probably should be better known and much more expensive. For the moment, it remains a hidden gem, an inside tip to be snapped up by those in the know.
