2025 Cheval Blanc, 98-100 Pts (WK)

Today sees a huge new release from Bordeaux, one of the most famous wines in the world, Chateau Cheval Blanc’s 2025 vintage.

A St Emilion superstar routinely producing some of Bordeaux’s best wines, Cheval Blanc is always a top performer. The 2025 is no exception, and it has 98-100 points from William Kelley, who calls it “among the finest wines of the vintage”. However, with yields microscopic this year, there isn’t going to be much of this to go around.

Famed for its elegance, complexity, and longevity, Cheval Blanc is one of the most sought-after and desirable wines on the market. In the great vintages, it sits at the very top of the qualitative tree alongside the Left Bank First Growths and the titans of Pomerol.

To maintain quality, selection is crucial, and this means yields of just 15 hectolitres per hectare in 2025, less than half of what was achieved in 2023, for example. The lack of supply means that this year, Cheval is releasing its entire production en primeur and not holding any stocks back.

There will be no ex-chateau stocks of the 2025 in future, so if perfect provenance is important to you, it’s an essential purchase now.

This 2025 is a superstar. For Kelley, it “stands out once again as among the finest wines of the vintage in Bordeaux” and is “full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with terrific mid-palate density, sweet tannins and a long, vibrant, violet-inflected finish”. For him, “the 2025 gives every indication of being one of the great Cheval Blancs of the decade.”

Aromatic, layered, classy and complex, Cheval Blanc is the epitome of refined elegance and a must for any complete cellar. Please do take a look and let us know your interest by contacting your account manager.

2025 Chateau Cheval Blanc

98-100 points William Kelley

A blend of 51% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2025 Château Cheval Blanc stands out once again as among the finest wines of the vintage in Bordeaux. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of dark berries and cherries mingled with notions of blood orange and iris, it’s full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with terrific mid-palate density, sweet tannins and a long, vibrant, violet-inflected finish. With its striking aromas, intensity of flavor and resolutely classical proportions (checking in at 12.7% alcohol and pH of 3.76), the 2025 gives every indication of being one of the great Cheval Blancs of the decade. [2026]

Offered subject to final confirmation. Available in 2028.
