We are delighted to offer an exclusive first look at a selection of 2025 directly from one of Burgundy’s rising stars, Alvina Pernot.
Based in Puligny Montrachet and armed with some superb holdings, Alvina is part of a new wave of young winemakers in Burgundy and crafts supremely elegant, refined and tensile whites that are very much in line with modern palates.
Alvina is Puligny-Montrachet born and raised. Granddaughter of icon Paul Pernot, it is thanks to him that the family is the second largest owner of vines in Puligny-Montrachet after Domaine Leflaive.
This means that, as her father and uncle begin to look to retirement, Alvina increases her ownership and access to some of the most highly prized vineyards for white wine in the world. Critical acclaim is growing, and allocations are increasingly highly sought-after.
Matthew Hemming, our resident Master of Wine, recently visited the Domaine to taste through a large range of cuvees and vintages and came away extremely impressed.
This comes as no huge surprise; despite being a relatively new Domaine (their first vintage was 2018), the wines have consistently garnered rave reviews from the critics. Neal Martin commented in 2023 that “You should definitely look out for this recent addition to the Puligny” and more recently that “they deliver the typicité of a great Puligny-Montrachet from Village up to Grand Crus”.
Allen Meadows noted in 2022 that “While it’s true that this new entry into the Puligny wine scene enjoys the inestimable benefits of having access to superb raw materials, Alvina and Philippe appear to already be making the most of it” and in his two most recent reports simply states “stunningly good and highly recommended”.
Steen Ohman sums it up best, noting that “Alvina Pernot and her husband Philippe are currently producing some of the best new whites in Burgundy. Very refined style. Very much Puligny with lovely energy and focus, even in the village wines.”
2025 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

A super fine, saline and tensile Batard. Has a wonderful profile and texture, starting from a pin-prick and building in spice and volume – pyramid-shaped. Sheathed in very fine, cleansing acid. 95-97pts Matthew Hemming MW
2025 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru

Strangely this feels broader and more textured than the Batard. Philippe and Alvina attribute this to older vines that give greater concentration and depth. That aside, it really drives through the palate and the acidity is considerable.

Some cool fermentation notes but then very tight but with sweet fruit. Crisply-defined. Linear and sleek. Lovely texture and purity. Lovely inner sweetness and scent.
